Help my washer smells like pee

I think all the CD laundry has finally caught up with my machine. Isn't there a way you can clean your washer?  Someone help my stinky washer!

TIA ladies :)

  • Sometimes gunk rinsing off of your laundry can get caught in the drain too and after super slow build up over time it can get stinky if it isn't removed.

  • Stop peeing in the washer, then you should be fine ;o)

Hot wash with Bac-out or vinegar perhaps??

  • i doubt it's the cd's, probably something else. but you can run a hot wash with vinegar OR baking soda (adding both will neutralize each other after foaming a bit). make sure you leave your lid up when the machine is not in use so it can dry out.?
  • What about filling the whole thing up with hot water and tons of Borax and letting it soak for 12 or more hours then just close it and let the thing run?

  • I'd run a hot wash w/ some bleach.

  • Is it a front or top loader?  Try the tips from the other posters, and leave the lid up/open in-between loads.
  • Get rid of the machine, it's a goner.
  • Mine smelled really musty for a little while, and I ran a cycle with just vinegar in the detergent holder thingy and hot water, and have left the door open when not in use, and since that one time I have had zero problems.  Good luck!

Oh no, I hope you're joking!!  It's only 3 years old and it's a GE Profile.

It's a top loader, but we have a klutzy cat, so I can't leave the top open.  We'd have a cat in the washer problem.

What do you think could cause the problem?  I'm at a loss here.
