I'm being forced to think about registering earlier than I want, because I'll only see my family once before the baby's born and it's coming up in a month (we live 1600 miles apart), so the pressure's on to get cracking on the registry.
Since I can only do the gender-neutral stuff for now, I've been thinking/reading about bottles... I plan to pump at work so will need lots to leave for daycare.
I've read lots of reviews, in Baby Bargains and elsewhere, but nowhere seems to discuss the pros and cons of drop-in vs. normal bottles.
What are you all planning on using, and why? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
Re: Bottle types?
From personal experience I can tell you that you may want to get several different kinds to see what baby likes. You never know what a baby will prefer. My DD would only take Avent. She hated Platex ventair, Soothie, and a couple others we tried. DS wouldn't take one at all.
Also, if you're planning on BFing and pumping, wide neck bottles are better because the nipple is bigger resembling the breast more.
We're planning on using Evenflo or Munchkin glass bottles. We prefer glass everything over plastic, so it just seems like the right choice for us environmentally. They don't cost much more than plastic bottles. They can go straight into the dishwasher to be cleaned and sanitized.
I'm not sure how good they are at reducing colic, though.
DH and I were totally with you on glass for the green aspect and really thought about going that route. If you have to do daycare just make sure that they will accept these- most wont or they have restrictions. It would stink to buy a bunch and then have to change b/c of daycare rules!
