So, I am really frustrated...This is only my first month testing...so im new to the testing stuff (yes, i know, it is almost like a 'miracle' to get a BFP on your first month of trying..but please, bare with my feelings..)....
so I am on day 19 of 29 and I still havent gotten a positive with my OPK ! .....ugh...booooooo
I was only testing in the AM, and then someone said that they had tested in the afternoon and got their positive sign of a surge then, so thats what I started doing.......bringing my stick to work! lol...and peeing in the late morning.........I also have done it in the evening at home.......and still nothing........I really dont want to see Aunt Flo anytime soon! ((
Re: uggh.....darn eggs!
1) Are you just getting off bc? If so, you may not have a 29day cycle (my first few were 65, 47 and 35 days and now I'm about 31 days). This could mean that you really haven't O'd yet.
2) You need to take a deep breath. This process can take months and if you're only 2 1/2 weeks in and you're already this stressed you are in for a world of hurt. Now, deep breath -in through the nose, out through the mouth-, repeat. Are you good? I don't want to hear about you being committed after only two months.
Yeah, I read that online somewhere....
This is my first month charting my CM - which needless to say has not been following the pattern told by fertilityfriend.com & other sites ....
and I am also doing an OPK everyday........
I was planning on temping if i see Aunt Flo.......but should I just get a thermometor from the store tonight and start in the morning? That way I know if I Oed this month?
My period should arrive June 29th or 30th
You could try to start temping midcycle, but it is probably best to start with a fresh cycle.
1.) I was using NuvaRing, I loved it. I put it in, for 3 weeks. I would take it out on Sunday & religiously get my period that Thursday and put nuvaring back in on that Sunday. I have ALWAYS had 28-day cycle....exactly!
But before I took my Nuvaring out for the last time, I screwed up my period a little because I forgot to take my ring out...so last month I actually had a 30 day cycle. I took my Nuvaring out on May 6th (2009).......
My last period was June 2nd.
I have already had my preconception visit with my OB-GYN..love her!
I know this can take months-years even......but...i just expect my body to do what I want it to.....unrealistic? yes........but i guess i love to dream it up.......I just cant wait to expand my family and have another
If you have a 65, 45 or 35 day cycle.......that means that you arent having a period for over a month or two, right? just curious.....i have always had my period - and extremely perfect ones where id always get it same time every month...so it took me a minute to put two & two together.......
I know I get the egg-white CM, just not yet this month........so I can assume I am ovulating when I get that, right? My OB-GYN doesnt have any concerns with me & sig other having another, since we've already succeeded to have a daughter together........then again, i know things change in time...she will be 3 July 11th
You could start mid-month to get the hang of it, but you probably won't be able to tell anything until next month.
You will want to buy a basal thermometer. Most people use www.fertilityfriend.com to record their temps.
Good luck!!
I don't blame you for being anxious. It is exciting! And I don't mean to burst your bubble.
Just remember, that cycles on BC are not real. You don't ovulate on bc, so the fact that you had 28 days cycles means nothing. It has absolutely no basis on how your cycles will act now that you're off. You won't have any idea, for probably a few months, how long your cycles actually are. Keep in mind too that just because they are 28 days one month, doesn't mean they will be the next month.
Yes, that means it was 65 days until my next period. I wasn't charting at the time, so I have no idea if I ovulated or not. If you haven't already, I might recommend reading TCOYF. It will really teach you SO much about your body/cycles, etc. It's really helpful.
THIS!
When you are on birth control your cycles always are the same length but that's not the case when you are off. They change every month.
WOW! I never knew that while on BC youre cycles aren't real....you know, I just guess I never was told, or that I never really thought about it.....lol....silly to think of it now! My understanding is that when you are on BC it makes your body believe you are prego, so that when you take it out, you have your period.......so is that pretty much the same thing? I just wasnt putting two & two together? LOL.......I need to talk to you more often, Im sure you have a lot more info I have yet to learn.......:)
THX!
yes you do, please take the time to lurk on the board. you will learn a lot!
When you were on Nuvaring, it caused you to not ovulate at all...that is how it prevents pregnancy (that's how all hormonal BC like the pill or Nuvaring works). What you had was not a period, but a withdrawal bleed.
Once you took it out, your body geared up for its very first real cycle in however long it's been since you have been on the Nuvaring, so it's could be weird for a while and be different lengths. The best thing to do is chart, temps and CM-because CM alone can't verify if you ovulated.
The way birth control works is that it prevents you from ovulating. No egg=no pregnancy.
I am in no way an expert (that's why I recommended the book), but I am happy to listen if you need it.
Please do a bit of research though - lurking here is a GREAT resource, you will learn a TON. A lot of women here having been trying awhile and are very knowledgable. Beware - you should do your research and try and be informed before asking question, you will get nothing but honest feedback here (big girl panties around here are a MUST).
Okay...I usually just go ahead and ask, because thats the most convient way for me to find out from all you "experts" ...so-to-speak.......If i was still a SAHM I'd probably have the time to lurk around...but 40 hours+2-almost 3 year-old & part time college, .........not much time to lurk!! (im at work now, hehe...sneaky me!...just jump on to check the replies
)
PS- I went to Target on my lunch break and got a target brand basal thermometer.....all the had was Target brand...im sure it'll work fine though, right?
Yes, it should work fine. It's cool to just jump on and ask, I'm just saying prep yourself for some snark if it is found to be a 'silly' question. We ladies around here are pretty fond of that.
GL to you though, I hope that your transition off bc isn't too crazy. Definitely pick up Taking Charge of Your Fertility though. It is worth the read and will teach you tons about your body, fertility, etc.
