Tell me about the trigger shot

Pending the results of my b/w I should be doing the trigger tomorrow afternoon.  The problem with this is that I will be at the beach with my mom and sister. My sister is about 3/4 through her nursing degree, so I guess she is qualified to give me the shot, but she is the same sister that said last time we were at the beach "Why is it so windy, there aren't any trees"

Is this Ovidrel? If so, it's super easy - you can do it yourself. I HATE blood, needles, anything medical - and I was able to do it. Just bring along an alcohol swab to wipe down the skin. It did not hurt at all, just a little pinch. And it did not have to go very far into the skin. It was over before I knew it. I was really scared to do it myself, but honestly - it was fine. I agree - you can definitely do this yourself if you need to.  It's a sub-q (assuming it's the Ovidrel pre-filled that you're using).  It's quick and easy - good luck to you!

And it's been a long time since we've had a sister story!

Its Novarel and its an IM i believe. eek! I also have to mix it.

If you don't feel comfortable doing it, let her know in advance that you need her to do it.

If it's Ovidrel, it's sub-q in your belly, and it's a breeze. Just ice the heck out of it first.

If it's not, it may be IM (in your butt). Never had to do that one.

if it's novarel, it's a butt shot.  if you have any doubts about her, see if you can bring it to a walk in clinic and let them give it - they may be able to do it and just charge you an administration fee of $10 bucks or so.

My instructions say I can give it to myself..hmmmm..I don't think I am that bendy! She claims she can do it. DH was going to do it, so she is probably more qualified. I have a video to watch. I will make her watch it with me.

i always had SC trigger shots- IM shots scare me.

my metho shot was in the butt & it didn't hurt at all- i just relaxed on the opposite leg & the nurse jammed it in. and looking at this video makes it seem very easy (it's a PIO shot but i think it's the same principal)

DH did mine.. I laid on the bed and tried to relax..  it was over quick.

If it's ovidrel you can do it easily by yourself.  I gave myself a trigger for the first time ever in a bathroom stall at a crazy concert.  I didn't think I could do it but I packed a little ice pack and it went fine. I just wouldn't watch it go in if your squeamish.  I watched it go in and withdrew it a bit as a reflex... that part hurt.

The only time I've had a butt trigger, I went in and the nurse did it. Since then, I've always had Ovidrel.

If you have a video, you should be fine, though. GL! I'm glad the injects are working for you!

I did all my own IM trigger shots.   Since I couldn't reach my butt, they told me to do the outter left upper thigh (since I'm right handed).

I did a trigger at Disneyland once.    I think between your sister and you, you'll be fine.

and FWIW, I found the IM shot even with the larger needle to be way less painful than my SC shots in my tummy.

My triggers never hurt at all in the thigh.

I don't have any advice since I haven't done it myself, but I'm thinking that I'd just learn to do them myself. The thought of my H or anyone else shooting me makes me more nervous that doing it myself.
