If you have/had an IUD

Did you get your first AF after your IUD insertion on time?  I've heard that eventually you stop getting AF (I have the mirena), but not that your cycles are longer.  AF is/was due today.  Trying to stay calm here.

Re: If you have/had an IUD

  • I have no clue...I just had one inserted last week but I'm 7 weeks pp and haven't had AF at all.  My dr said she has one and never gets AF.
  • I got mine in July last year...I stopped getting af four months ago... sometimes it came on time sometimes a day or two late...sometimes early...it took a couple months to regulate... I would wait a few days b4 u flip out...or just test to make yourself feel better.

  • My first was on time, but my second cycle was 2 weeks late.  It had me worried.  Cycle 3 isn't due yet.

Edit: I originally read your questions wrong.  My answer is about cycles after removal.  I didn't have any periods at all during the two years I had the IUD in.

  • I got a regular period every 25 days the entire 2 years I had my IUD. It was like clockwork and I was not one of the lucky ones I guess!

It was really light but it lasted forever (my periods normally lasted forever before the IUD anyways though and were super heavy, so it was an improvement for me!)

  • I never got one on Mirena but I was BFing when I had mine

  • With my first Mirena (pre baby) I had no period after I got it inserted or for the next three years until I had it removed. This Mirena (my post baby one) I spotted for six freaking weeks after insertion and then had periods for the next 6 months and have FINALLY stopped having them.
