Freaking mortified

I was in the store with DS, and he was buckled in the shopping cart seat (he'll be 3 in two months). We were walking by another woman, and his arm reached out like a cat and he HIT her! He just hit a random strager for no reason at all. The women stopped and stared at us and gave me the dirtiest look in the world (I sure as hell don't blame her), and I my jaw just hit the floor. I started sputtering and scolding DS, but, to be honest, I was so shocked that my kid actually just smacked a random stranger for no reason that I didn't know what to do except scold him. WTF?!

He's sick and he's tired, but, hell, that's no excuse!

  • Oh yeah -- how would you have handled this? I thought about putting him in a timeout in the store, but I just wanted to get the hell out of there.

  • Sounds like she was a *** anyway.  If I'm walking by a cart and a child hits me, I would just ignore it.  You didn't hit her, jeez.  SOme people.

  • Unless he hit her hard enough to bruise her, she overreacted by giving you a dirty look. Maybe DS knew she was a wench?

I personally would have scolded DS very sternly and apologized profusely to the stranger. All while trying really hard not to laugh!

    THIS

Seriously, she was being a b*tch.  He may have been wrong, but he's a kid for pete's sake.  I would have scolded Grace and then laughed to myself.
