NBR: Has anyone ever done Invisalign?

When did you get used to the retainers in your mouth? I feel funny talking, like I have something foreign in my mouth that will fall out.

On the plus side, I think not being able to continually snack all day will help me finally lose the last of my baby weight!

  • They should feel pretty snug in your mouth.  If they feel "loose" you may want to go in and make sure your properly fitted.  I had a hard time with the TALKING but that goes away pretty quick!

You should shop around. I didn't think the cost would vary that much among doctors but it totally does! One place I checked out, for example, charges $6,000 (they're in a "ritzy" suburb in our area and the waiting room is totally decked out in video games for kids - nothing I need) and another only charged half that. I would go for the ortho who charges the least b/c invisalign is mostly handled by the company that makes the retainers, not your doctor. GL!

  • When I looked into it they were about $3000. I'd love to get them still. Hopefully someday.
  • do you pay monthly installments? I had braces as a teenager and didn't wear my retainer-my bottom teeth sure could use invisiline! I am kicking myself now for not wearing them then!

That's what happened to me too. I paid for the whole thing up front b/c they offered a pretty great discount and my flex account at work will cover most of the remaining balance. You can bet I will faithfully wear my retainer this time around! LOL.

  • It took a few days to get use to talking with them but once you get accustomed to them.  And for the previous posters, I did the no financing payment plan for one year.

  • I am now a SAHM, but worked as an orthodontic assistant before that.  The doc I worked for did invisalign and they cost was anywhere from 1000 to 3000 dollars.  It all depends on how many aligners it will take to align your teeth and the severity of the case.  Not everyone is a candidate for Invisalign.  But definately shop around....the aligners are made by the company, not the doc.
