Indiana Babies

If you're bored...

Not that I'm bored, but I opened the first post about it and now I'm totally drawn in...

There's a whole bunch of drama on the 0-6 board.

Someone found this blog. And then spread it around 0-6 and 6-12. And then the woman started getting comments about abusing her baby. You know how it goes.

Well.

Someone was able to go through her blog entries and figure out (based on a picture of the family in front of a theatre, plus a dated performance that they went to see) where they live.

Local authorities have been called. CPS has been called. No joke: GMA, CNN, Dr. Phil, Oprah, Today Show, The View, local media have all been contacted.

Thoughts?

  • Oh WOW. I saw the beginnings of this on 3rd tri, but didn't know it has escalated! OMG!

I'm going to keep my thoughts to myself, I think, because I haven't read enough of what's going on to make a fair assessment. If she IS abusing her kids, I hope it stops immediately by whatever means necessary.

  • I probably shouldn't have said "Thoughts?" in there... I don't want to start drama over here! :-)

Just thought I'd post it if anyone was bored... Sometimes these boards amaze me.

  • I read the training session post (and her vitriolic response) on a link from another board.

Haven't read the rest, but I think she's freaking crazy.

I'm not sure if CPS would do anything or not.

  • Funnily enough it started on the Parenting board so I caught the beginning of the dramz.

It's very mommy dearest, if you ask me...

As far as calling the authorities, I don't know - I certainly think it's abuse, but it's from a blog so is she really doing it?  She seems like a psychopath.  It's just hard to know what's real I guess, but I'd rather err on the side of protecting kids.

I'm usually VERY to each her own when it comes to discipline, but the way she writes about stuff creeps me the eff out and I totally think it's abuse, not discipline.  If you've ever seen me post on parenting, I will defend spanking even though we don't - just b/c I think it's a worthless punishment doesn't mean it's abuse, however, this blog is disturbing as hell.  Compounded even more by the fact that she WRITES ABOUT IT ON THE INTERNET.  That makes it even wackier than even doing it!

  • Child abuse, no.

    Stupid parenting, absofreainklutely.

  • The part that made my skin crawl most is when she said she wants to "make him miserable".

And I see now that she has removed that post...

  • I agree, Lauren.

It's not that I think the swatting she's doing is abuse - it's the context of it, the why, the continuation of it for so long, etc.  It's sickening, and I think it's abusive because it's a total power play - NOT discipline.  It's hitting him repeatedly to get him to say HI MOMMY, which is completely insane.

The way she writes about it really makes my skin crawl.  It's like she's got some scary ass sick smile on her face while she hits her kid for not saying Hi Mommy.  It's creeptacular.

  • Totally Mommy Dearest.  And I really like Beth's point that she's saying she's doing it, but we have no way of knowing whether she is.

IMO, if she's doing it, it's abuse.  You don't hit a living creature for 30 minutes because you think it will make it love you better or more appropriately. I don't care how thin the back scratcher is, or how much you believe that it's because you are like God to your child and God demands obedience.  That alone is worth a theological sh!tfit that I'm willfully repressing.  Children that age are barely developing a sustainable concept of other people and empathy; they cannot understand the concept of obedience, and he's going to know that he's being hit.  No matter how many times she justifies it, she is not doing anything to reach her child with the totally effed up message that Mommy is God except when Daddy is home, and then Daddy is God.

But the mentality of "if one person calls CPS, then 1765 other should call too" really bothers me.  And I have no faith in The View, Oprah, Dr. Phil, or anyone else who makes money off sensationalism to actually do anything worthwhile in this situation.

Sometimes the internet seems more trouble than it's worth, you know?
