Babies on the Brain

Kong

We got our pup a Kong yesterday to keep her occupied now that its down to only one dog.

She loves it and it definitly keeps her occupied. Only problem is she mastered the art of getting the treats out in record time.

Any suggestions on what to put in there to make it take more of her time?

She goes buckwild over it to the point that just now she ripped all of the blankets out of her cage trying to get the last treat out.

Re: Kong

  • Put peanut butter in it.
  • Loading the player...
  • You can actually get a toy called the buster cube and it takes them quite awihle to get all the "treats" aka dog food out.  Then as they get better you can adjust the settings to make it more challenging.

They are about 15-20 bucks, but my dog loves it.

    this.  works every time!

  • My dog did that in 2 seconds. WTH?

You can try frozen peanut butter.

  • to make it last even longer I put the kong w/ peanut butter in it in the freezer before giving ito to my boys

That beast is going into the freezer stat!

I am afraid of the goopy peanut butter because I don't want it to get everything dirty, but I think frozen style I can live with.

I also like the idea of the harder to get adjustable thingy.

    It does thaw...lol

  • I also put in treats mixed w/ the peanut butter and freeze it.  I have a beagle and he sits for 2 hours working on his.  My Lab takes about an hour and then gets bored.  but the treats frozen w/ the peanut butter are a great idea.  I also used to buy raw marrow bones but don't like the mess so now buy them already cleaned/boiled and fill them w/ peanut butter and freeze them too.  I tend to mix it up to prevent boredom.
