Aren't you the morning sickness expert? Give me all your tricks!!!
I've been non-stop puking all day since 6 weeks (to the point where I'm puking so hard my nose starts bleeding at the same time. I know TMI but it's THAT bad!), I'm on my 3rd anti-nausea pills (Zofran) and their not even helping. I ate one piece of toast for dinner last night and puked it up 3 times before falling asleep! I'm sooo ready for this to be over!!!
Re: Ok chibi!
Oh my goodness Ashley, Im so sorry....yuck!
Did you do this with Gages pregnancy too??
If not, I'm totally guessing a little girl is in your near future...well based on the OWT's at least!
::butting in too::
I'm so sorry Ashley! I was really sick too, so I thought I'd share some of the tricks my midwife gave me:
Stay hydrated as much as you can- you will puke more if you are dehydrated. Sip gatorade, smart water cut with a little juice, etc.
Eat something bland (cracker, bread etc) before you sit up in bed in the morning.
popsicles really helped me, and my friend swears by sucking on lemons with sugar on them (never tried it tho).
Hope you feel better soon!!!
::joins the crowd and butts in as well::?
Oh no! ?That's awful:(. ?I hope it gets better soon! ?It's too bad the Zofran isn't working. ?It worked well for me but made me really tired. ?Is there another kind of medication they can give you?
Oh man! I feel your pain. Yep I'm the expert - a full nine months of morning sickness. Although, I don't know what my inability to rid myself of it says. The medication didn't work for me either.
The thing that finally worked for me was to have a glass of orange juice (preferably one that's not fortified with calcium because it messes with the iron in your prenatals) first thing in the morning. I think the combination of citrus (which was soothing to me) and hydration help. Plus, TMI, if it does come back up, orange juice tastes considerably better than a lot of other things.
Other things that worked were constant hydration and constant eating. For me crackers never worked but it's worth a shot. Shredded wheat worked for a while and it's easy to keep in your nightstand.
Another thing that my doctor suggested, again didn't work for me but might work for you, is vitamin b6 and unisom. Might be worth asking about.
Good luck! I know how miserable it is.
My best friend got horrible ms up until about 6 months along...puked all day, every day. She tried so many different medications and only one worked. I wanna say its a drug to help ease the nausea for chemotherapy patients. Unfortunately the drug was really expensive. I can find out which that one was and maybe you can call your Dr and see what he/she says about it...and then call your insurance company and find out how much they may cover...she called it her miracle drug...
::hugs::
Thanks for all the tips!!! I for sure need to stay more hydrated and I think I'll try the orange juice in the morning! I've heard about the unisom and b6. I'll have to ask my doc if that's ok on top of the zofran.
Keren- That's the drug I'm on. Zofran is normally for chemo patients. I'm going to try to take it every 4 hrs today instead of every 8 and see if it helps.

Hey were you taking Zofran when you got those migraines? Its supposed to be a common cause of migraines I guess my friend couldn't figure out why she was getting such horrible migraines and the dr immediately switched her from zofran and they were gone!
Thanks everyone!!
Tiff- Hmmm I'll check if I've done the metoclopramide yet or not. I know the first one was Reglan but I can't remember the 2nd one they put me on.
Coreen- Yeah constipation and headaches are big side effects of the Zofran. I wonder if that caused your migraines! Oh and I'm WAAAY too chicken for acupuncture. That gives me the shivers thinking about it!!
Christina- Is Lilah picking her nose in that pic?? LOL That totally made me laugh!
I was right there with you, sick as a dog... like pp said, zofran, have you tried preggie pop drops? hard candies that are supposed to help with ms, though I swear there was nothing special in them... they were fabulous... popsicles... keeping hydrated... propel, gatorade, graham crackers....
and a side note... have you had an ultrasound yet? though it might not be indicative of anything, with twins, my ms was horriffic (lost 10 pds) and Dr Cole said was b/c of the increase hormones...
good luck and hang in there!!!
My sister was like that and the meds didn't help her. Her nausea was more attributed to gas than "regular" m/s... her stomach (the food part not the baby part) was really bloated and it just projectiled things out b/c of the gas. So she was on Gas-X like candy and that helped a little bit. She ate only potatoes for at least 4 months. That was all she could find that she could keep down.
I found sucking on lemon drops helped a little bit, that and a constant stream of wheat thins - I had them in my desk, in my car, next to my bed, etc.
Both with Ben and this one I have had to eat non stop all day long. Even if I puke, I have to keep eating. But mine isn't as bad as yours at all.
I hope they can figure something out for you.
Ooooh I forgot about popsicles! I'll go get some today! I'm having the hardest time staying hydrated because I'm NOT a water drinker. I hate it. Usually I drink tons of milk (fat free) but for some random reason I become lactose intolerant when I get pregnant. Craziest thing. So, no milk for me!
Yeah I had an ultrasound at 5 wks, 6 days to date the pregnancy. Just one baby!
One extra hormonal baby!!!!! LoL
My weight keeps fluctuating everyday. Not a ton but I'll usually start at 122 in the morning and be 118 by the time I go to bed. It goes up and down between there everyday.
No advice really, just wanted to say that sounds awful and I'm sorry your m/s is so bad! Maybe try drinking some sparkling water to help settle your stomach and keep you hydrated?
Mine hasn't been too bad, mostly just queasiness, and I've been able to keep that mostly at bay by eating almost every hour. Except, I'm so bloated I somehow still feel full all the time. Yuck.
why not acupuncture? Acupuncture is fantastic. I was really nervous about it, but I was getting desperate for fertility stuff. and I LOVED LOVED LOVED it. It is so relaxing and it doesn't hurt. Really.
and preggie pops that someone else recommended. They're yummy. But they don't have anything magic in them. Just candy. I think there are some Vitamin B6 candies now that are meant for m/s... maybe ask at the drug store about those.
If you'll consider acupuncture, I HIGHLY recommend Amber with Acupuncture Northwest in downtown Tacoma. IF it's painful at all it is way less than a bee sting. If it's the whole Chinese medicine thing, I would call and ask for some information.
I just went today and am so relaxed. It has eliminated my back pain and we are now working on regulating my cycle. Amber helped my good friend through her first trimester after loosing 2 babies. Good luck!
