Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Must...stop...reading...about...milestones...

DD is a pro at fine motor skills, but she's taking her time on gross.  She can stand at her activity table, but no crawling, no scooting, no pulling up, no standing on her own, nothing.  I'm getting a complex reading about 6.5 month olds pulling up.

I know, I know, all babies move at a different pace, and she's fine.  I just had to vent.  Between that and everyone saying she's enormous (90% for head size, 75% for height/weight), I'm touchy lately.  She's fine, damnit!!

Blurg.

  • hehe- don't let it bother you!!! My husband walked at 8 months, so dd is taking after him! (I walked at 13 months...)

But she slept through the night for the first time eva' last night at almost 7 months. Does that make you feel better? :)

  • 6.5 months to pull up? Yea, right... That is the exception, not the norm. My DD was trying to master sitting up at 6.5 months. She started pulling up on things at about 9 months old.

  • Yeah DD is the opposite.  She's awesome at gross but has a harder time with fine motor skills.  She can't get that damn pincher grasp to save her life.  They're all fine :)  I also get upset when i see kids on here saying dada or mama and whatnot at 7 or 8 months.  DD is nowhere near that!

Me too.  He is just now starting to scoot and sort of kind of once in a while he almost gets on all fours.  My cousin's baby is 2 weeks older and is standing, waving and clapping.  When we clap or wave he laughs at us like we are the most hilarious thing ever.  Then he tries to eat our fingers.

Ooh ooh - she can wave!  Does that make my baby cooler than your baby? Pretty please tell me it does! Wink

Seriously, though -- thanks for the support, ladies!

She did STTN obscenely early...consistently by 12 weeks.  Le sigh.

Congrats on your little walker -- that must be so exciting!  I can't wait until DD can get to what she wants on her own -- she gets so frustrated sometimes.

I know...that was the early example.  Even the 8-9 month olds make me a little sad, though:-)

As I'm on a roll, inefficiently replying to everyone individually, I might as well keep at it:-)  Overnight, DD went from not being able to pincer grasp things at all to acting like she'd been doing it her whole life.  I think something just clicks.  No mama or dada here either -- she was babbling dadadadada for a while but has moved on to other consonants, and not a mama in sight.  They'll get there...

Hey lady- I got it on video!! Want to see? ;) I also have on video her climbing up 1 stair at 6.5 months... that's on my blog so easy to show if you don't believe!!! :)

Oh no, she's not walking yet..... I just think she's taking after my husband in moving early... she was "crawling" across the room at 5.5 months.... (proof in the blog if you want to see ;)

But her STTN skills are crap I tell you!!!!!!!!

Wow -- good for her!  I don't need to check your crawling cred:-)

I wish I could give advice on STTN skills, but I don't think we can take any credit for DD's early sleeping habits -- she did that on her own, and we just lucked out!

  • I totally understand.  DD just started STTN at 9 months and she's crawling but I can't get her to drink out of sippy or eat table food and then there are kids at 7 months solely on a sippy and eating nothing but table food.  Its so hard to not compare!!!

Side note, how did you get the bow to stay in her hair on your tiptoe picture?  DD has no hair but I want to put a bow in her hair so bad!!!

It's just an itty bitty bow and is just barely hanging on!!!! I got it at a little boutique here in town just for pictures!
