i have given my 8.5 month old little bits of shredded chicken and deli turkey meat. not enough to make a meal but enough to get the taste of it. I haven't heard very good reviews of the canned baby meats...they smell like dog/cat food.
ETA: yeah the Earths Best foods that are meat and veggies are fine. I don't think they smell bad or anything and DD eats them up! She seems to love them.
What do you mean...the Stage 2 foods with meat pureed in it? If so, those are OK from 6 months on.
We don't use the just plain meat in jars, those are gross. We give Chicken & Rice, Turkey & Rice, Apples & Chicken, Beef, Macaroni & Veggies, etc. Beechnut and Gerber, Earths Best all make them. Ashlyn loves them!
If you meant little pieces of actual chick you cook then I would wait until they are eating finger foods.
My pedi said no meats until 9 months. However, in Canada, most pediatricians recommend it as a first food. In the grand scheme of things, probably depends on your baby and how their tummy handles things.
At 7 months we started Stage 2 Gerber meals.. Turkey and Rice, Apples and Chicken.. same as Sephora. They are not bad for the baby.. Ped said they are fine!
Re: When to introduce meat?
I did at 7 months.
