Making invitations--help!

I'm trying to make invitations for DS's 1st birthday party and I'm hoping you can give me some tips. What program do you use? Where do you find templates? The ones I've found online aren't impressing me. I don't want to do anything fancy. I just want to put a picture on the front of the invite and have the rest of the info on the inside of the invitation.

I tried doing this in Word '07. I chose an invitation template just to get the right dimensions and deleted the designs and text. I tried placing the picture I want to use on the front of the invitation, but without success. Am I missing a step?

 Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    A lot of people have used scrapblog. They have semi templates there and you can print them too.

    I use Photoshop and Illustrator to make my invitations. As for Word I have never made an invitation in there. So I am not much help there.

    So with Scrapblog you can print at home or do you have to order from them?
