We have the chair but not the Baby Set. We got a surprise yesterday when Brian's coworkers bought us our PNP - which we already have - so we have an extra $175 at BRU to play with.
Is the Baby Set necessary? Probably a dumb question, huh? I just don't want to spend the $90, even if it's not our money, if it's not worth it.
Re: Stokke Tripp Trapp question (Kat?)
Depends on if you want to use it as a high chair or not.
If you just want it as a chair for her room, you're fine, or as a booster seat at the table when she gets bigger.
If you want to use it as a high chair, it's my understanding that you absolutely need the baby rail, but can live without the cushions as they are a PITA to clean.
Here's my one caution from reading the description "Trapp highchair to provide additional support and stability as well as allowing a baby as young as 6 months old to join the family meal at the dining table. The new Baby Set provides more comfort and support which encourages the child to interact more with the family. "
Considering that a lot of people start solids at 4 or 5 months, I'd worry that you won't be able to use for the first few months of her eating. And even if you plan on delaying solids until 6 months, you never know what her preferences are going to be.
So unsolicited advice time, I'd wait to purchase it. You'll have a thousand and one things to get after she's born (in fact, you might find yourself going to BRU daily just to get out of the house, especially if you have free money to spend) so I'd just save the credit for after she's here.
Then if you want to start solids before she's old enough to sit in the chair, our IKEA high chair was $25, so you can always get a cheapy to last you in the interim.
