Soy formula and yogurt

Does anyone have a LO on soy formula but tried yogurt and their LO is okay with the yogurt? DD gets about 8 oz of formula a day mixed in with breastmilk in her bottles and we have her on soy based on her initial reaction to regular Enfamil at about 3 months old. I found out that I could start her on yogurt if I wanted but I am afraid to try.  Just wondering if anyone was in the same situation

Re: Soy formula and yogurt

  • DD is on alimentum and we slowly introduced the stonyfield adult whole milk yogurt and has done great.

  • I asked my doctor and he said it's perfectly fine.  He said that yogurt is so processed that it barely contains any amount of the proteins that cause the milk sensitivity, therefore it's safe.

  • We have milk allergies and yogurt in small amounts go over ok
  • Thanks! I think I will have daycare start on a Friday with it and then we will try over the weekend to see what type of reaction DD has.  I'm hoping she doesn't have a milk allergy anyway, but we won't find that out until she starts on whole milk at 1 year.  She just had such a hard time with regular Enfamil that we didn't even try another formula before we went to soy.
  • DD was on soy formula but I gave her yogurt and cheese, when she was 1yr she went to whole milk without any problems.

  • DS is on Lactose Free formula (Enfamil appears to be phasing it out so I will switch him to Soy) due to lactose allergy. I tried the Stonyfield yogurt at 8 months and he got diarrhea from it.

  • My son has a milk allergy and I just go with soy yogurt for now.  When we are ready to reintroduce dairy, we'll try yogurt first, but I'm in no hurry.  My LO had a horrible vomiting reaction to the dairy in formula at 3 1/2 - 4 months.  Not something I'm anxious to relive!
