Feet swelling

For those of you that have swollen feet - when did it seem to start for you?  I'm 27 weeks and have really noticed it this week.

I sit at a desk all day - do any of you have ideas on ways to keep your feet elevated at all during the day, under a desk?  I've been keeping my shoes off when I can (kick them off under my desk), but am open to suggestions.

TIA!

Re: Feet swelling

  • my feet got real bad at around 32 weeks and haven't gone down at all.

At my desk, I kick off my flip flops and put my feet up on an upside down trashcan underneath.    Not like it helps.   Nothing helps.

  • Tip your trash can upside-down or use a case of printer paper under your desk. Even elevating them just a little for as long as possible helps me.
  • I had my recycling bin tipped over and my laptop bag ontop for a while

  • Mine didn't start until 35 weeks, but now they're out of control.

I keep my feet elevated on an over-turned recycling bin under my desk while at work and lay on my left side as much as possible when I'm home.  If I am tired of laying on the couch at home, I sit very reclined so as not to pinch off the circulation at my hips and keep my feet up on our ottoman or on my fitness ball (slightly taller than the ottoman).

  • I also sit at a desk...and under my desk is a big box with a foot stool on top of it...so my legs are pretty much level with my hips...it helps a little...I never have my shoes on when I'm sitting (but I also wear flip-flops everyday)

  • I also mostly sit at a desk all day w/ elevation, no luck though! I'm just now noticing my "cankles"..which seem to include my calves. By morning though it seems to disappear. I guess you just can't help it.Sad
  • Mine started swelling bad around 30 weeks. I keep my feet up as much as possible, while at work and at home. It dosent seem to help any though. I even have the special TED hose that the dr can prescribe for you, those dont seem to help much either. Gl to you however and I hope you find some relief!
  • My Feet started swelling at around 23 weeks. They have gotten so bad that I can't even get flip flops on.  I put my feet on a trash can all day at work but it really doesn't help.  All you can do is put your feet up over your head but as soon as you start walking around they will become swollen again.

They swelled when I was on my feet a lot or it was hot about a month ago, but the swelling always went down. They started staying permanently poofy about a week ago.
  • feet and hands started around 27 weeks for me......I hate looking like I have Grandma hands, veins are gross!!

I also am at a desk all day, i have an old box my feet are on. Can't really get comfortable because of my back....argh

  • It started for me at about 30 wks. I work at daycare so I'm on my feet ALL day. Usually when i get home i prop them up though and they aren't so bad in the mornings.
