"I can't call a baby Landon." Really??

This is what a friend said to me this week when I told her the baby's name. She said Landon was "too big" a name for a baby and she couldn't imagine calling him that until he was at least 8 years old. This is new to me. A name like Maximilian is too big for a baby, not Landon!

Anyway, I'm interested to see what she comes up with to call him instead. And hope I don't have to fight her over it. LOL

??? My LO is going to be named Isabella and eventhough we already are nicknaming her Izzy and Bella she's still going to be known as isabella...

And my nephew's name is Jonathan and we never had nicknames or anything for him...?!

Maybe she'll try calling him Lando. My cousin's son is Landon and I think it's a really cute baby's name and works into their adulthood as well.

LOL @ Lando! All I could think of for her to say was Lanny? DH said he may call him L.B. (his initials) but I hadn't considered any other nicknames.

A friend of mine named his little boy Landon...never thought of it as a particularly 'big' name.   Roethlisberger is a big name...what he WANTED to name him! Thank God Landon's mom overruled it!

Wow.. People are amazing.  Landon is an adorable name for a little boy.  It sounds like you were a lot nicer to her than I think I would have been..  your baby.. your name.

Yeah... I think it was because I thought she'd be in the minority. I can't see anyone else saying this. It was kind of weird. I think if Landon was a "big" name, I'd know that already. I'm not worried about everyone we know insisting on a nickname for him, KWIM? Whatever- she'll get used to it.

My daughter's name is Kristen, and while she is 2 and still doesn't say it quite right, it's cute.  And Landon sounds even easier.  I too would like to know what nickname you would give for a Landon.

I (obviously/see sig) LOVE the name Landon. I am not sure what your friend is thinking LOL.  Landon is a short name per my family's standards.

LOL that's weird!!! I don't think Landon is too big a name for a baby. I just had a very similar discussion with DH about Reid last night.. It's my top choice and he says its too grown up for a baby.. umm he will spend about a year of his life as a baby, and hopefully decades and decades as an adult... oh well!

That is odd.  It will be his name... what else would you use?

I have a nephew named Harrison and that's all he's been called. Another is Matthew, he never was a Matty or Matt and is called by his full name (though I'm sure once he's in elementary school that can change).
