If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me. For I must be traveling on now. Because there are too many places I've got to see. -Allen Collins & Ronnie VanZant
My favorite verse!
I think 'Michaela' is considered the most "proper" spelling... but I just read the Freakonomics chapter on baby names and socioeconomic status, so that's kind of fresh in my mind... based on the info in that book, I would deduce that 'Michaela' is considered more "high end" b/c it's the female version of the properly spelled 'Michael'. The authors made a note that one of the top 20 "low income family boy names" names was 'Micheal'... a most likely unrecognized misspelling by the undereducated. They also noted that "Kayla" is on the top 20 "low income family girl names". Based on their research, I would think that 'Michaela' would give the perception of a child with more advantage than 'Makayla'. BUT, it's important to note that the authors believe, as do I, that the name is NOT as important a determinate in the success of the child as other factors... mainly the parents' efforts in raising the child.
Hope that doesn't sound snobbish... just noting what I read. I have what I think would be considered a "low end" and "misspelled" name, and it hasn't negatively affected me at all, so I'm obviously not heavily influenced by the data... but I found it interesting. Sorry to write you a novel!!
