You didn't ask for opinions on the name, but I'm going to give you mine anyway. Sorry.
Please reconsider naming your son just Vinnie. It may be cute when he's 5, but once he's 25 and he has to tell his friends (much less his potential employers) that no, it's not Vincent, just Vinnie, he will not thank you for this.
If you don't believe me, read Freakonomics. It has an excellent couple of chapters on how people judge others based on their names and what conclusions people draw from certain names (such as nicknames as given names).

Ditto 100%
My husbands name is Vincent, he is 32 and he still goes by Vinnie. He hates it when he is called Vince, Vincey, or Vincent which is every single day at work, by random telemarketers, ect.. He has gone by Vinnie since birth. He wants to name our son Vinnie. I agree with him. What's the point of giving your child a name that you will not use all the time, if ever. Dumb IMO. So we will be naming our future son Vinnie. Thanks for your advice though.
Re: Middle name for Vinnie
What about Cole?
I think this is going to depend a lot on the last name.
but...
vinnie james
vinnie tyler
vinnie marcus
vinnie michael?
?

I prefer it with a longer "real" name as well
Vincent
Vincenzo
Vincente
ect...
