Wipes?

This may sound silly, but I'm just curious, MIL bought a tons of wipes for us, all off-brand. I'm not being a snob, but I've heard mixed reviews on whether you should go for the brand name. The bad things I've heard is that they tear easy and they don't come out of the container smoothly (like Kleenex). Is this true? I figure you guys would know better than anyone. :) TIA!

Re: Wipes?

  • No I love the Sam's CLub Brand better than Huggies or Pampers.  They are thicker and more moist.

  • Yes!!! We just used up all of our name brand wipes from my shower and DH bought Parent's Choice wipes and they suck. They tear and don't come out like they're supposed to. I have been peed on twice while fighting with these stupid wipes. (not sure about other off-brands though)
  • The hospital gave us off-brand wipes to use and we've been using Kirkland (Costco) wipes since we got home.  DD has been fine, no weird reactions to them.  The ones we use aren't flimsy and don't tear randomly.
  • It can be true that some are thicker than others, etc...but honestly they are just wiping poop and getting thrown away. Take what you get  =)

  • I pretty much use any and all wipes that come my way. That being said, I do like certain ones more than others. I bought a huge sack of Huggies Sensitive on clearance and I hate them. Mainly because they're too thick and they come in a Ziploc like resealable plastic bag (not the zip kind - the kind where you have to match up the two parts and run your fingers along it to lock them together). That combined with the fact that they're perforated and not folded together makes it hard to just grab one quickly. SO, my point is this...even the name brand ones suck sometimes!! :) But as far as I'm concerned they were cheap enough to tolerate until we're out...sadly, I bought like the 750 pack of them!! :)

ETA: My personal favorites are the Berkely & Jensen that they sell at I think BJ's and Wal-Mart. They're technically generic brand I think.

  • I've only used Huggies and the Target brand.  I prefer the Huggies.  I found the Target brand to be less moist and not as thick.

  • As long as they're continuous feeding, I don't have a problem with off-brand wipes.  I order Luvs wipes from Amazon.

We use the Kirkland wipes too, I love them.

  • We got lots from our shower, but were going through them so fast that I ended up trying to make some.  It turns out I love them much more because they're thicker and moister.  And cheaper.  So we still have lots of store bought wipes but we're using the ones I made out of preference.
