My MOTY moment of the day

We went to the mall this afternoon and took Nora's umbrella stroller in with us.  When we came out of the mall, I had her climb in her car seat while I put the stroller in the trunk.  DH called to let me know he was ready for us to pick him up, so down the road I went.  Nora was singing to the radio, so I glanced in the rear view mirror to see her dancing, and, you guessed it...saw that I hadn't buckled her in her seat.  I immediately pulled in a parking lot and strapped her in.  Yikes!  This was around 1 pm, so the roads were very busy with people getting back to work and driving like fools.  Ugh.  I told her to make sure to remind me to put her seat belt on if I forget.

Thank goodness God looks out for kids and fools.

  • I've done that. Last time I did it I had B yelling from the back "MOM, look at me, I have no seat belt, a strangers going to get me" lol

  • I did that once with each kid when they were still in the infant seats.  Scared the bejeeezus out of me!!!

DD would never let that fly now - we get yelled at if we start the car before everyone is fully buckled, nevermind actually moving. lol

  • I did that about a month ago. I didn't realize it until I went to take her out. I made myself sick with all the "what-ifs"!

I did this with DD the other day.  Driving down the street she yells, "mommy, you didn't buckle me in!"  Thank goodness.  Pull over and fix, apologize and tell her thank you.

  • I have gotten the "Mama, you forgot to strap me in!" more times than I care to admit.  It is usually when I let her climb into her seat, go around the other side to get DD2 in her seat and just head straight to my seat after that.

Fortunately, she's such a creature of habit and put out by the inattention that she tells you before you've even had a chance to put your seatbelt.

I always tell her that she NEEDS to tell me if I do that every time because that is not safe.  She's getting to be a good tattle tale.  Smile
