Trying to remain calm. BFP Question.

So I had a really weird period. so little that I would have required only one tampon the entire weekend.

So I tested this am, and I don't think its a BFP, but there is this super thin blue line only on the bottom of the window. The test line is HUGE and BLUE and thick, so I know the test is "valid" - but what's up with that little thin blue line???

I went at lunch and bought 2 more tests. Am drinking diet coke (don't judge me!) to have to pee. Should I wait until tomorrow???? Should I try now and just get it over with???

Is it realistic to think that after 3 years TTC and NADA - I would get implantation spotting the same month I decided not to get PG because of my 40th bday trip to Italy next summer???

Re: Trying to remain calm. BFP Question.

  • ok, breathe! do you have a picture you could post of the test? if not, pee again and let us know!

  • Loading the player...
  • First - breathe...lol....

If you want to POAS again, go right ahead - but diluting your urine is probably only going to provide another questionable test.  I'd wait until tomorrow morning and use first morning urine.  I'd also maybe get a digital test - those ones are fairly hard to misread, and if you'r past the point of when your regular period would have come and gone, you'd probably have enough HCG to have a digital pick it up.

    And keep breathing....

  • Sadly, I don't have my camera at work today. I am totally stupid too aparently, as I just went to POAS with all my diet coke pee and -- trying not to laugh at myself -- totally missed. Like, didn't get a SINGLE DROP on the stick. Now I have to save up...will check in in an hour...holy crap.
  • ok good advice. I'm going to wait until tomorrow am...
  • Wait until the morning. Save up the good pee..LOL

    Good Luck

    Amie

  • And good luck!  (cause you know what they say...a line is a line :)
  • Kristen, BREATHE!

Okay, now I have no advice, but I've always heard that it doesn't matter how faint the line is...as Sandra said, "a line is a line."  Good luck!

Also, the few times I've tested, I found it easier to do the dip in cup method rather than trying to aim at the stick.  That way, you know you'll actually hit it.  Wink

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!

  • ok, well, wait until tomorrow morning but in the meantime...take a prenatal vitamin :) cuz i think you're pregnant!

let us know what tomorrow brings!

  • Breathe.

    Test again in the morning.

    Good luck.

  • It sounds like you've gotten good advice! My fingers are crossed for you. I can't wait to get home from work tomorrow to check on here! Good luck!
  • good luck! can't wait to hear update tomorrow!

  • All go advice has been given and lets be honest and realistic.................HOW CAN YOU REMAIN CALM???????   HOW CAN YOU TAKE A DEEP BREATHE !?????    HAHAHAHAHA.....  OMG you are making us all wait till tomorrow morning.......WICKED!!!!

I will be thinkin about you and hoping you get the answer you are looking for!!

  • OMG I give you credit for being able to wait!!! I tested at 10:30 on a Sat night cause I couldn't even wait till Sunday morning to know :-P GL tomorrow and I'll be excited to check in for any news. BTW - my test was very faint so dh sat there in disbelief b/c it wasn't dark enough. I tried to explain you either have hcg in your pee or not and finally he believed me (after I tested again sunday morning).

My only fear here is that it is one of those "after 10 min" window line - it doesn't go the length of the window, its just on the bottom half. And I'm not really patient, I am just afraid that my pee is too diluted and I will waste a $12 test...

  • My advice: get a digital!

I would test again with a pink dye test, like First Response.

Here's some info on what may have happened:

My test developed a line, but it's going the wrong way. Or it's in the wrong place. Or it's the wrong color. Is it positive? No. If your test develops a line but it's not in the proper place for a "positive" result, the test is negative. A true positive line is caused by the chemicals and dye "sticking" to the antibody strip in the test. This antibody strip is in the "proper" place. If the chemicals and dye don't stick there, the result is negative.

It is common for a test to develop a line where the wick (the dipping/peeing end) meets the cellulose strip (the smooth white test area.) This is because the dipping end contains a "sandwich" (two strips with the dye/reagent in the middle) and is much thicker than the cellulose (thin, smooth.) The difference in thicknesses sometimes makes residual dye pool in that area. This can also happen when less urine is applied to the test (not enough to make all the dye cross the test.) This is still a negative result. These lines can usually only be seen when a test is disassembled or when using a dip-type test rather than a test encased in a plastic handle.

  • GOOD LUCK! Can't wait to see the morning results!
  • Couple of things I have learned from the MANY MANY hpts that I have taken.

1 - 1st morning pee works best if you are testing early, if you are already late, it really does not matter.  But, don't drink tons of liquid to get you to pee.

2 - I always pee in a cup, this way I don't have to worry about missing the stick, and like someone said, if you get a non-valid test, then you can always use the same pee on another test.

3 - Tests from the Dollar Tree are GREAT!  They are very sensitive and pick up a small amount of HCG.  Other dollar stores may sell them as well.  But almost ALL Dollar Trees do.  Sometimes they are by the cash register, sometimes you have to ask.  I usually would buy several.  I don't know why, but when you just buy one, it seems like (to me) you are doing something weird and cheap, but buying several means that you WANT a positive so bad that you buy so many.  These are pee in a cup kind.

4 - blue dye ones, or "+" "-" ones are the worst ones in my opinion.  If I did not buy the $Tree ones, I would always get First Response Early Result.  First Response makes a few kinds, make sure you get the early results ones.  These are super sensitive and not on the high end of expensive

5 - Digital is the way to go IF, you have had other test that you are pretty sure are positive but are not 100% sure.  I don't like to buy the digitial until I am pretty sure I am going to get the result that I want.  It really hurts to see "Not Pregnant" - especially after spending lots of $$ on it.  But from my experience, all digitals work great.  Again, I would use morning urine.

Wishing you the very best, sorry this turned into a novel.

  • I'm crossing my fingers for you!!  I will be checking in bright and early tomorrow to hear the results.
  • She said she would post at 8 am PST.  It's only 6 am there.
  • Man, I have to leave but I'll be checking in as soon as I get back :-P
