Re: PG and TTC Check In: 06.15.09

  •  Yay, I like seeing my name and due date there!!  :)

    Preggers Questions
    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? Week 5 and lordy do my bewbies HURT! A little cramping, but otherwise just a lot of exhaustion and thirst.

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week? I have an interview tomorrow for the stupid promotion I've been promised for 6 months.  I'm annoyed I have to interview for it, but at least I'm being considered still.

ETA: DUH!  And telling our famliies!!! We're telling parents, siblings, and an aunt and uncle I'm very close to.  We'll wait until after our appt. to tell other friends and family.

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? July 13, our 1st ultrasound! Eeek, I can't wait.

    4.  What are you expecting to be your ?signs? of going into labor? no idea yet.

    5.  What should I stock up on for taking care of myself after baby is home? I'm no help there either, sorry.

    6.  How will you handle visitors who just want to ?stop by? when the baby comes home? I don't anticipate having this problem, I think we'll just spread the word before hand (and via my mom) that a call beforehand is necessary.  Otherwise, I just won't answer the door.  :)

    7.  First time moms: Will you/have you attended some sort of labor/birthing class of any sorts?  Where? And was it worth it or a waste of time and money? We're going to take the class offered at Swedish, I hope its worth the $$$.

    8.  When did you do the hospital tour?  (Especially if you are taking childbirth classes outside of the hospital). I think Swedish offers 2, the first to be done around the end of the 1st tri/beg. of 2nd.  the second tour is during the 3rd tri.  We'll probably do both.

    9.  To have a doula or not?  What were some of the things you considered? We won't, we have a very strong support system of family and friends.

    10.  Questions for next week? I can't think of any at the moment, but I might come back and add some.

  • Preggers Questions
    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains??One day to 35 - I always take note b/c it's the same week my mom had me. I never expect to go early like she did, though. I'm very sluggish and slow, but generally ok. My biggest problem is trying to carry DD when she asks... it's hard to lug her up and down the stairs.?

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week? Nesting - I took today off to do that. We'll see how much I actually get done...

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? I wanna say Wed. N/m, maybe make sure that Group B strep test came back ok.??4.? What are you expecting to be your ?signs? of going into labor? Same w/DD, but faster progression - radiating feeling around the stomach (early contractions), EXTREME nesting urge at the last second... I never lost my?mucous?plug or had my water break beforehand... but it could happen.??5.? What should I stock up on for taking care of myself after baby is home? Oooh! Those face wipes to keep by your bedside. I am a religious face-washer, but after the baby's born, you'd be surprised how easy it is to skip it out of sheer exhaustion.??6.? How will you handle visitors who just want to ?stop by? when the baby comes home? Thankfully, I don't have much family around... I would just be very candid about it - "Oh, I'm glad you're here, but I'm sorry I can't be as much of a hostess as I would like right now. The baby's taking up most of my time. Maybe next time we can schedule a time to get together instead? That would probably be more convenient for all of us."?7.? First time moms: Will you/have you attended some sort of labor/birthing class of any sorts?? Where? And was it worth it or a waste of time and money? Well this is my 2nd, but I did attend one w/DD, and I think everyone should do it unless they have infant childcare training... but I feel reading the pg books are equally helpful.??8.? When did you do the hospital tour?? (Especially if you are taking childbirth classes outside of the hospital) I haven't done it yet - I really want to, though! (Different hospital this time around.)?9.? To have a doula or not?? What were some of the things you considered? I didn't think it was necessary for me, but everyone's different. I was all about the expertise of the Dr.s in the practice... and the epi! :p?10.? Questions for next week? Where are you delivering, and why did you decide on that location? Have you decided on a name, and are you comfortable sharing it w/us??
  • Preggers Questions
    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?
    26w 3d
Lots of stretching in the lower abdominal/belly area. Massive sciatic and low back pain, legs sore all the time now. And morning sickness has returned.

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?
Dentist appt on Friday to get some cavities filled. (not exciting but my teeth will be better)

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?
Glucose Test on 6/20 and routine appt 7/9

    4.  What are you expecting to be your ?signs? of going into labor?
Lots of intense stomach cramps, possibly water breaking...honestly I just know that I will know. And I am sure DH will know too since this isn't his first rodeo.

    5.  What should I stock up on for taking care of myself after baby is home? NA

    6.  How will you handle visitors who just want to ?stop by? when the baby comes home?
If they are unwanted, I will just ask them to stay for a short time. I won't turn them away, but then again I only really see my Mom, Dad and MIL doing this. Everyone else would call first because they never come over. But we will see how that goes.

    7.  First time moms: Will you/have you attended some sort of labor/birthing class of any sorts?  Where? And was it worth it or a waste of time and money?
I haven't done any, and I really don't see myself doing it. I don't know why, just don't.

    8.  When did you do the hospital tour?  (Especially if you are taking childbirth classes outside of the hospital)
I took mine really soon actually. When I was about 11-12 weeks.

    9.  To have a doula or not?  What were some of the things you considered?
I went to massage school and always wanted to become a doula and also have one when I gave birth. But now that it's happened, I am just fine with my Dr only.

    10.  Questions for next week?

  • Preggers Questions
    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?? 36w/0d.? Some back pain, getting up to pee in the middle of the night, can't eat as much.... but otherwise still feeling pretty good, actually (knock on wood).?

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?? Last childbirth prep class tonight, dinner with my mama tomorrow, and awaiting the arrival of a few big shipments from Target (registry completion is fun).? Smile

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?? Tomorrow.? GBS test, internal and we'll find out what position this baby is in.? It's the first of my every week appts.? Holy crap!

    ?

4.? What are you expecting to be your ?signs? of going into labor?? Well, from what I understand I'm expecting lightening, bloody show and loose bowels.? Sounds like fun.

    ?

5.? What should I stock up on for taking care of myself after baby is home?? My question.? I know I'll need granny panties and pads.? What else??

    ?

6.? How will you handle visitors who just want to ?stop by? when the baby comes home?? DH seems pretty adamant about having time with just the 3 of us, so I'm hoping he'll just handle it.? :)? We'll probably send out an email when she arrives and tell people that we'll let them know when we're ready for them to stop by.? The best defense is a good offense, right?

    ?

7.? First time moms: Will you/have you attended some sort of labor/birthing class of any sorts?? Where? And was it worth it or a waste of time and money?? We have our last (of 6 classes) tonight.? I don't think it was a waste of time or money (though after reading so much there was plenty that I found redundant).? We did exercises where we had to breathe through the pain of holding ice in our hand over and over again.? That was helpful.? It also helped us figure out what works for me in terms of DH supporting / coaching / etc.? The last couple classes were informative - interventions and pain management - and tonight is about newborn care, breastfeeding, etc.

    ?

8.? When did you do the hospital tour?? (Especially if you are taking childbirth classes outside of the hospital)? Week 33 (with my mom) and week 34 (with DH, in class)

    ?

9.? To have a doula or not?? What were some of the things you considered?? If I were planning an unmedicated birth I would definitely have a doula.? Because I do plan to get an epidural at some point, and because DH is great about supporting and helping me, I don't feel like I need a doula.? I will also have my mom there for even more help and support.?

    ?

10.? Questions for next week?? Do you talk / read / sing to your belly a lot?

    ?

    ?

    TTCer Questions
4.? Do you have a certain time of year you would prefer to have a baby?? If so, what?? My only real criteria was for the baby not to be born right around Christmas.? Not that that would've been a deal breaker.? But I know a ton of people with late December birthdays and they hate it.

    ?

5.? Hypothetical: if you were laid off, would you continue to TTC or would you wait?? That's tough.? I went through some serious internal debates about money, the economy and the state of our business before TTC.? I suppose if I was laid off we might postpone for a little while.? But ultimately there is never a perfect time to have a baby.

  • ?I can't believe I'm on "babywatch"!! As of my appt last Wednesday, I'm 1.5 cm dilated, cervix is soft and 50% effaced, and the baby is at 0 station. I feel like I have a cantaloupe between my legs, but other than that I have no labor symptoms and am starting to worry this will drag on for-EVER! :)?Preggers Questions
    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains??Week 39. Tired, incredibly slow, sore crotch, my neck has continued to swell so I look like jabba the hut, but my mood is actually pretty good! :)
    2. What are you looking forward to this next week??Uh... HAVING A BABY!
    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment??June 17, my actual due date.
?4.? What are you expecting to be your ?signs? of going into labor??I don't know, I'm waiting to lose my mucus plug but i know not everybody does...
?5.? What should I stock up on for taking care of myself after baby is home??I've got pads, witch hazel, nursing pads and lansinoh, plenty of box meals, a DH off work for 3 months, and a mom who will come over at the drop of a hat. Still feel like I'm missing something though...
?6.? How will you handle visitors who just want to ?stop by? when the baby comes home??I don't think we'll have a lot of this, but we don't have many friends that don't have small children themselves so I know they will be understanding and we'll just feel free to be assertive about our needs. To the extent that we can handle it though, I hope we DO have people stop by!
?7.? First time moms: Will you/have you attended some sort of labor/birthing class of any sorts?? Where? And was it worth it or a waste of time and money??We took the "great starts" class. I'm glad we took it, though I don't think it was a perfect class by any stretch. Enjoyed meeting some other couples in the class as well, and plan on keeping in touch with them.
?8.? When did you do the hospital tour?? (Especially if you are taking childbirth classes outside of the hospital).?I think we did it at about the beginning of 3rd tri??
?9.? To have a doula or not?? What were some of the things you considered??We are going to use a doula and feel really good about it. DH was a little concerned about being on his own with me (he gets a little woozy, and also has a bad back and other things that made him want someone who could give me physical support.) She has been very helpful so far and I'm really looking forward to having her with us.
    ?10.? Questions for next week??

  • 1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? Almost at week 36...I can't believe just a little over a month to go.  Just moving at a little slower pace than usual :)

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week? We have a lot of little stuff to do to feel like we are ready for this new addition.  So I need to write a list and start checking things off.

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? Next Thursday.  Group B test.

    4.  What are you expecting to be your ?signs? of going into labor? Well last time I wasn't dialated or effaced on the day I went to the doctor and the next day I went in to labor (42 hours later a baby was born).  So i didn't have a ton of signs leading up to that.  I had super strong contractions though.

    5.  What should I stock up on for taking care of myself after baby is home? pads, pads and more pads.  get some comfy, cheap underwear to throw out later.  nipple cream.

    6.  How will you handle visitors who just want to ?stop by? when the baby comes home?  You know this just didn't happen with the last one, so I think that it won't happen with this one.  People were great about calling or planning to come over.

    7.  First time moms: Will you/have you attended some sort of labor/birthing class of any sorts?  Where? And was it worth it or a waste of time and money? I didn't this time, but I did last time and I felt it was worth it!  We just did a weekend class at Swedish and it worked fine for what we needed.

    8.  When did you do the hospital tour?  (Especially if you are taking childbirth classes outside of the hospital) Most doctors say to do it at the end of your 2nd tri, but both times I was a procrastinater and waited.  We are delivering at a new hospital this time and I am hoping to get a tour in before we go in to labor.

    9.  To have a doula or not?  What were some of the things you considered? I didn't do a doula because I knew that I was okay with drugs if needed and that my husband and doctor would be there for me.  I don't regret that decision at all and am glad that I didn't have one more person in my room and one more thing to pay for.  Also, I didn't have a list of demands or anything I needed someone to help me carry out, I was a very laid back pregnant lady :)

     10.  Questions for next week?

    image
  • Preggers Questions
    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?  In week 23.  Starting to feel achy all around.  On Sat, I walked around downtown Seattle for 3 hours and by the end all I wanted was a bed!

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?  Girls night!

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?  This week.  Routine.

    4.  What are you expecting to be your ?signs? of going into labor?  Gross as it sounds, maybe diarrhea!?  Ick. Honestly though, I'll be looking for textbook signs.

    5.  What should I stock up on for taking care of myself after baby is home?  I'm ill-experienced, but from friends I hear Tucks Medicated pads, or any type of hemorroidal supplies are fab; some extra undies you don't mind tossing in the garbage after use; some super pads for when things lighten up a bit, though as I understand it, you can grab a bunch of stuff from the hospital.

    6.  How will you handle visitors who just want to ?stop by? when the baby comes home?  I'm putting DH in charge of this.  He will be my "buffer" or the "tough guy" so I don't have to.  We'll definitely welcome people during different times, but when I'm not in the mood for visitors, I'll have DH tell them now isn't a good time.  That way I get to be the girl everyone likes! :-)

    7.  First time moms: Will you/have you attended some sort of labor/birthing class of any sorts?  Where? And was it worth it or a waste of time and money?  My question.  We're still pondering this.  I've heard mixed things about Evergreen's classes or birthing classes in general. Just don't want to waste money if it's not worth it.

    8.  When did you do the hospital tour?  (Especially if you are taking childbirth classes outside of the hospital)  If we do the class, it'll be a part of the class.  Otherwise, we'll probably do it in the 7th or 8th month.  The hospital says you can stop by anytime.

    9.  To have a doula or not?  What were some of the things you considered?  We have a midwife so given how attentive they are to care, and given that I plan on the epidural, I found a doula to be slightly redundant for my taste, though I fully understand why some women have both.

    10.  Questions for next week?  Can we talk post-partum blood?  How much should I really be expecting. For some strange reason, maybe because I just visited two friends who recently gave birth, I am totally obsessed with knowing how much pp bleeding to anticipate.

  • TTCer Questions
    1. What cycle are you on? Waiting to O or 2WW?  Cycle 7, waiting to O.  This is my last cycle before we get help  I have an appt in early July.

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week?  My reduced hours start this week (30 hrs) and I'm glad about that, although smaller checks for 6 wks won't be great.  I need the time for physical therapy and recovery, plus other non-work things to get done. I'm glad to reduce my stress over my hours.

    3. Do you use OPK's or any sort of fertility monitors? If so, what was your experience with them and how well did they work for you?  I've been using OPK's for 9 cycles (plus charting).  I only use First Response OPK's, just for consistency.  They do help somewhat, but they have been off by 1-3 days, for 8 out of my 9 cycles using them.  I wouldn't rely on them solely, but I find them useful when added to temping and CF.  I start using them (2x/day) once I notice CF and they give me an idea of O timing.

    4.  Do you have a certain time of year you would prefer to have a baby?  If so, what?  I used to prefer no babies in August (lots of family bdays/anniv already) or around holidays, or to be pg in the hottest part of the summer.   But, at this point, I'll be happy with a BFP any time. :-)

    5.  Hypothetical: if you were laid off, would you continue to TTC or would you wait?  We would continue to TTC.  I'm 37 (almost 38) and time is not on my side, since we want to have more than one.  Our plans are for me to go PT from home anyway once baby is here, so I would use the time to start finding something PT right away, with the intention of keeping it after baby is born.  I'd probably try to work more than PT hours for now, if possible, but it wouldn't affect TTC.

    6.  Questions for next week?  This is for PG and TTC:

If you sought medical help while TTC, and if you chart, did you find your OB/GYN was open to using your charting for reference?  Or did he/she disregard the charting?

  • Preggers Questions
    1. What week are you in? Week 34
Any new aches or pains? Sore back, VERY sore/swollen feet, and somehow my eyelids got burnt on Saturday and are very pink and very swollen (not sure if it's baby related or not).

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week? A Day About Baby class at Evergreen on Saturday.

    3. When is your next appointment? Wednesday
Will anything special happen at that appointment? Routine

    4.  What are you expecting to be your ?signs? of going into labor? I am going to expect one or all of the usual things: Menstral-like pain, extreme pain, diahrea, bloody show, lost mucus plug, water breaking (either trickle or gush). I have told myself not to put any expectations on the whole childbirth experience as I don't want to get disappointed if none of it happens.

    5.  What should I stock up on for taking care of myself after baby is home? Good question, it will be good to hear the answers. For me personally I have already gotten a TON of granny panties, maxi pads (long overnight ones), witch hazel, nipple cream & nursing pads. Anything I'm forgetting?

    6.  How will you handle visitors who just want to ?stop by? when the baby comes home? This was my question - I figured I would make DH be the bad guy like what Nykola is doing....but he has a hard time being the "bad guy" so I make take a page from my friends book. When guests would come over and she would not want to see/host them, she would leave the room to "breastfeed" and would be gone for about 30 minutes. She said that usually guests got bored and left.

    7.  First time moms: Will you/have you attended some sort of labor/birthing class of any sorts?  Where? And was it worth it or a waste of time and money? I attended the Labor & Childbirth class at Evergreen. Here are the pros and cons for both myself & DH:

Me: The only thing I learned that I didn't already know from watching A Baby Story & reading ALL of my books was that I have now truly decided that I want to try and go natural. Before we started classes I was on the fence, but after doing all the breathing techniques & positions - I know that DH will be an amazing coach & support to me. Everything else was a waste of time.

DH: He knew NOTHING about childbirth/labor. This class was a HUGE benefit to him. He never knew about the phases of childbirth, he always thought that once I had my first contraction, we were to rush to the hospital - WRONG!  He also learned a lot about being a support/coach to me and actually got really into practicing (went out and bought a birth ball, tennis balls, heating pad, etc.).  The con was that there were A LOT of stupid questions asked that he got really annoyed with. But for the most part, I'm glad we took the class because I could have told him all the stuff we learned and he probably wouldn't have taken me seriously. To hear it from a trained professional made it real to him.

    8.  When did you do the hospital tour?  (Especially if you are taking childbirth classes outside of the hospital). We did our hospital tour with both sets of our parents - at around 28 weeks. It is tradition in DH's family that the grandparents are the first ones to see the baby before anyone else (besides us of course) so we wanted them to feel comfortable with the hospital, know where to go, where they will be hanging out before the baby is born, etc.  It was a great bonding experience with our parents, especially since this is the first grandchild on BOTH sides.

    9.  To have a doula or not?  What were some of the things you considered? Actually, my cousin is a doula and offered up her services for free. For me, I figured DH and mom were the best support people for me. They know me so well know how to handle me. I know they will do a great job.

    10.  Questions for next week? What will you do about unwanted guests at the hospital?

    TTCer Questions

    3. Do you use OPK's or any sort of fertility monitors? If so, what was your experience with them and how well did they work for you? I used OPK's for 4 of 8 months I was TTC. I did like them and it was a great tool to use to confirm all the OTHER signs of fertility when using them. Once I confirmed those signs, I ditched the OPK's and just had sex when those other signs were made clear. That was the month we got pregnant.

    4.  Do you have a certain time of year you would prefer to have a baby?  If so, what? For us, we wanted a baby ANY time of the year besides Christmas. I did not want a holiday baby.

    5.  Hypothetical: if you were laid off, would you continue to TTC or would you wait? Yes. This is actually what happened to me. Most people would say this is stupid and unpractical - but to me, there is NO GOOD TIME to have a baby, and if you wait, you'll be waiting forever. I was laid off and found out we were pregnant 2 weeks later. It sucked at first because I had to come to terms with the fact that I won't have that ideal nursery, perfect stroller, beautiful bedding, and expensive Baby Bjorn that I envisioned. But DH and I also learned how to budget better, clip coupons, and that the baby will NEVER notice all the expensive items that we wanted for him. PLUS, we realized that during our pregnancy, if we keep living frugle like how we have been, I can have my ULTIMATE dream.....to be a SAHM.

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week? starting meds, getting the bathroom painted and new shower curtain, etc up!

    3. Do you use OPK's or any sort of fertility monitors? If so, what was your experience with them and how well did they work for you? nope..I bought a cbefm, but found out that I don't O on my own..so that was a waste of $$...

ANYTIME!!! I'm sooooo sick of TTC and TTTC that I have no preference anymore :)

    5.  Hypothetical: if you were laid off, would you continue to TTC or would you wait?

Well, considering we have to use medical intervention, we'd probably stop ttc, but probably stay off bcp and hope for a miracle natural pregnancy!

    3. Do you use OPK's or any sort of fertility monitors? If so, what was your experience with them and how well did they work for you?  Nope

    4.  Do you have a certain time of year you would prefer to have a baby?  If so, what?  I don't want to be due around Thanksgiving or Christmas, after already having a holdiay baby I don't want another one. I am hoping for spring time.

    5.  Hypothetical: if you were laid off, would you continue to TTC or would you wait? Depends on if we were planning on me working or being home after baby.  I am a sahm now, aside from my very pt job so if I was laid off it wouldn't change our situation.

    3. Do you use OPK's or any sort of fertility monitors? If so, what was your experience with them and how well did they work for you? I haven't used them, I looked into the CBEFM but it is so expensive so I didn't buy it. We haven't used any OPK or monitors at all, just charting.

    4.  Do you have a certain time of year you would prefer to have a baby?  If so, what? I would be more than excited for an "any time" baby!

    5.  Hypothetical: if you were laid off, would you continue to TTC or would you wait? If it were me then yes. They closed down the last location I was working at (I found a new position) and the severence package we were offered was nice enough that I could have a few months off to search for a new job. If my H got laid off we would probably have to wait to TTC.

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? 21 weeks, 4 days. My back is having some issues but that's the pregnancy compounded with my herniated disks.

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week? Working on the registry, starting to organize the rooms for the nursery, and going to a tea for a group I'm in on Saturday.

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? July 7th. I have no idea actually.

    4.  What are you expecting to be your ?signs? of going into labor? I'm hoping to not have signs being that we are having a scheduled C-section.

    5.  What should I stock up on for taking care of myself after baby is home? I'm no help here.

    6.  How will you handle visitors who just want to ?stop by? when the baby comes home? DH and I were talking about this the other day. We have to come up with a solution because we have a lot of family and friends in the area.

    7.  First time moms: Will you/have you attended some sort of labor/birthing class of any sorts?  Where? And was it worth it or a waste of time and money? DH doesn't want to but he's fine with us reading books and buying DVD's. I have alot of experience with infants and childcare so he's relying on me. I'm hoping to change his mind.

    8.  When did you do the hospital tour?  (Especially if you are taking childbirth classes outside of the hospital) Our Hospital offers them every other Sunday so we are hoping to do it this summer.

    9.  To have a doula or not?  What were some of the things you considered? I do not have a doula, there doesn't seem to be a point for me with the C-section.

We don't really have a problem with it now.  But I just won't answer the door if I'm not expecting someone.

    7.  First time moms: Will you/have you attended some sort of labor/birthing class of any sorts?  Where? And was it worth it or a waste of time and money?

    8.  When did you do the hospital tour?  (Especially if you are taking childbirth classes outside of the hospital)
This was my question, I hate scheduling stuff but I guess we will probably aim to do it by 30 weeks

    9.  To have a doula or not?  What were some of the things you considered?
I've thought about it, but haven't really taken anymore steps towards it.  We are going with a midwife group, so I feel that will be some support over an OB, but I'm a bit concerned about how much support DH will be.

    10.  Questions for next week?

    4.  Do you have a certain time of year you would prefer to have a baby?  If so, what?
I didn't really care.  Might have been nice to have to summer/fall off instead of winter but it didn't really matter.

    5.  Hypothetical: if you were laid off, would you continue to TTC or would you wait?
Probably continue, provided we both weren't laid off.

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? Week 9. I am sick all the stinking time. I am already ready for this part to be gone, running after a 16 month old is tough when you feel so wiped out and sick all the time!!!

    2. What are you looking forward to this next week? Tomorrow is our first official doctors appt. We get to see the baby!

    3. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? See question #2

    4.  What are you expecting to be your ?signs? of going into labor? Meh, I dont know. I knew with Masen so it wasnt a confused issue. Im not worried about it.

    5.  What should I stock up on for taking care of myself after baby is home? lol. the stuff the hospital sends you home with was AMAZING. I just bought extras. Those ugly undies they send home are WONDERFUL. And get as much rest as possible.

    6.  How will you handle visitors who just want to ?stop by? when the baby comes home? I made a "visiting" day. I asked everyone to give us our space for a couple days, then we told everyone to head on over. They were all just excited, so we just made sure there was plenty of handwashing.

    7.  First time moms: Will you/have you attended some sort of labor/birthing class of any sorts?  Where? And was it worth it or a waste of time and money?  Im not a first time mom, but I never attended any of these.  Your  body really does know what to do. I just focused, prayed, and tried my best not to use my energy on yelling and screaming. The big thing that I realized is you want to think youre gonna poop. Then you know youre diong it right!

    8.  When did you do the hospital tour?  (Especially if you are taking childbirth classes outside of the hospital) Never did one either. lol.

    9.  To have a doula or not?  What were some of the things you considered? I am considering one this round.  It is just nice to have someone there just for YOU that can be of assistance when your DH feels overwhelmed. Doulas are there to be of support to both parents, easing any frustration or concerns and to just make the experience much more enjoyable.

    6.  How will you handle visitors who just want to ?stop by? when the baby comes home? We didn't really have this problem with DS and don't expect it with #2. Most people were very respectful and called or emailed.

    9.  To have a doula or not?  What were some of the things you considered? We had one. I wanted a natural birth, so we knew we wanted all the support we could get.

    4.  Honestly, fall or spring baby.  I secretly have wanted a baby around my birthday in September or a March baby (Irish), but I would be happy with whatever ends up happening.  I work for a cruiseline, so winter is kinda crazy with people asking off, and January and February is our main booking season.  Summer is also busy with people at work asking off.

    5.  I would not TTC if I got laid off.  Heathcare is really expensive if you get pregnant.  But if I was pregnant or had a baby, I would consider more of a career in childcare, so I could spend more time with my baby.

    5.  Hypothetical: if you were laid off, would you continue to TTC or would you wait?  Try being 13 weeks preggo and laid-off...it sucks.  If I was laid off before we got preggo and since we had to do IVF, we probably would have put it on hold until I got another job.

I expect them to call first but if they don't I won't change anything for them.  If I feel like seeing them, I'd come down to say hello. Otherwise, DH (Mr. Nice) will likely chat with them while I'm 'sleeping' or feeding.

    7.  First time moms: Will you/have you attended some sort of labor/birthing class of any sorts?  Where? And was it worth it or a waste of time and money? I have seen a list of classes at Evergreen and some look interesting, and some pps have provided good feedback. We will likely go to a few classes, especially since we feel rather clueless.  The books are not enough.

    8.  When did you do the hospital tour?  (Especially if you are taking childbirth classes outside of the hospital) Haven't done one yet, but I assume it will be when I'm 6-7months or so.

    9.  To have a doula or not?  What were some of the things you considered? Not sure. On one hand, I want just me and DH in the room. On the other hand, I think DH will need help during the birth process. I don't know if it sounds right that it's DH that may need a doula :).

    10.  Questions for next week? What types of exercise do you do, how long and how often?

    TTCer Questions

    4.  Do you have a certain time of year you would prefer to have a baby?  If so, what? I can of positives about anytime. Sometimes I say I'd like late winter/early spring so that I can take lots of walks in the summer while on maternity leave. Sometimes I say I'd like the baby to be at least 6months old during the summer and I can home from work to take evening walks till the baby is almost a year. In short, doesn't really matter to me.

    5.  Hypothetical: if you were laid off, would you continue to TTC or would you wait? I think I would still continue TTC because there is the possibility of being laid off anytime - while pregnant, shortly after birth, etc.  Besides, I have crossed over into my late 30s and given a lot of time to education and career. So this year was the end of postponing for any reason whatsoever.  Like one of the pps said, the kid won't know what type of nursery he/she had. We can provide a food and a comfortable and safe environment, everything else is extra.
