Can scar tissue grow back?

Three csections later, can scar tissue grow back even if it's been removed?  Or does the number of scar on top of scar even matter?  I'm just curious because lately, where I have had it removed in the past, only once though, obviously, I am having the exact same type of pain and discomfort as I've had before.

Re: Can scar tissue grow back?

  • I believe so, yes. ?:-(
  • Did they remove it during your c/s?  It was painful?  I am curious because I plan on having 5 or 6 c/s's.  My OB said it would only be a problem if there was a ton of scar tissue.  So at some point he might say another one wasn't a good idea.  I worry about how much scar tissue I have because I really want a big family.

  • It wasn't removed until after my third, six months later during my tubal ligation.  He said there was a lot too.  He mentioned during my second that there was a lot from the first.  Not sure why it wasn't removed then but it wasn't until I really complained about it during my six week pp check after the third that apparently listened and removed it when he did my tubal.  A different doctor delivered my third and it was never brought up.  I didn't think of it at the time and my doctor was a b*tch.

  • Yes, it definitely can.  Scar tissue can cause a small bowel obstruction.  SBO's are extremely painful and can lead to death if not treated quickly.  If you are in agony and can't keep any food or liquid down, get yourself to the ER.

  • It's definitely not that bad.  I had no idea it could be though.  It's painful and uncomfortable but nowhere near anything like what you described.  It's good to know though because I would have assumed I had the flu or something.
