Last night, we gave DD formula for the first time because my supply's been so low at night that she and I are both getting frustrated. So - stupid question about formula bottles from a newbie - is it worth getting some kind of mixer thing to mix the water and formula? Or is it just as easy to stir it? Last night I must've done kind of a crappy job - there was some scmutz in the bottom of the bottle...
Re: mixing formula
I just mix it in the bottle and shake. I find it's better to put the water in first and then the powder to prevent the stuff at the bottom. Sometimes, I put half the water, then formula, rest of water and mix. Both ways work for me. If I make a bunch of bottle for the day, I use the bottle warmer to bring it back to room temp.
I do not like shaking for some reason. I always end up with clumps no matter how much I do it. I think the Neosure is extra clumpy for some reason. But anyhoo, I have a big Tupperware measuring picture with a lid and it has a nice pointy spout( like for pouring pancakes) and I measure out 15 scoops of formula and add 30oz of water, stir really well and viola! Nice smooth, creamy, milky stuff..
DS likes his formula stired, not shaken....
water + formula and shake...I never have any clumps or problems mixing it.
