I always appreciated these lists so if you find mine helpful... great!
-Pre registration paperwork if you can get that done ahead of time
-Pen and paper for taking notes on when things happened, names of nurses, discharge orders, etc
-I wore a nightgown from home (my pads stuck to it though through the mesh panties, fyi) and sweats and tanks the day after delivery. I appreciated my own things more than the hospital gowns.
-I wore mesh panties from the hospital till I went home so you really only need one pair of panties
-I brought a robe and didn't use it at all. If you walk the halls during labor you just put on another hospital gown backwards and I didn't leave my room again till I went home. I was also super warm in my room.
-I brought socks and didn't wear them at all. I walked the halls in my flip flops.
-I brought like 3 nursing bras. Bring one for every day you think you'll be in the hospital.
-Toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, face wash, hair brush, hand lotion, hand sanitizer, facial moisturizer
-Going home outfits for you and baby
-Shoes (my feet did swell a little bit so take that into consideration)
-Baby outfit for the hospital picture
-Receiving blanket (at least for the ride home)
-Took my own pads but used the hospital ones and brought a bunch home with me too - use what they give you!
-Cash for hubby to eat, snacks
-Camera and batteries
-Back massager, especially helpful for my back labor
-Chap stick
-I took the baby book and I probably had time to write in it but I just never did. If you're taking good notes, just wait till you get home to work on it. I never asked them to put footprints in the book either so I'm just making a copy of the footprints we have to tape in the book.
-MP3 player, didn't use during labor but did put some music on the morning of the day we were discharged. It was nice and relaxing.
-List of phone numbers of people to call and calling card or cell phone
-Boppy pillow, I questioned if it was worth bringing because it was so big but it was totally worth it - bring it along!
-Prenatal vitamins, I asked and the nurse said to go ahead and take them and my iron supplements I had been on, can't hurt after delivering a baby to restock your body
-Breast pads, you may leak and you don't want to have a wet bra
-And obviously the car seat
