Best car toys for a 3 year old...

I'm taking the kids on a 6 hour car trip by myself on Thursday.  Our DVD player is broken so I'm buying a new one today, but I want to buy a few thiings that are new for my 3 year old to play with. I'll keep them in a bag in the front seat and if things get hairy I can pull one out :-).

So, give me your best car toy ideas!  I'm definitely going to get a book or two...but that's all I've got :-).

A likes her mini magnadoodle, mini etch a sketch, books, will play with her dolls (brushing their hair) for hours. I'll sometimes take her talking toys like her Winnie the Pooh phone that teaches numbers and letters but reserve those for hard times. We haven't had to take lots of trips lately but anything that keeps her hands busy and letting her listen to "her" music helps b/c she'll sing along to the cd repeatedly.

eta: pens (or pencils), crayons and paper are a lifesave right now too. She likes to draw. I'll page you if I can think of some more stuff.

My DS likes to look at magazines/catalogs with kids and toys in them - like the Pottery Barn Kids, Company Kids or Fisher Price Catalogs.  Stickers / sticker books keep him occupied for awhile too.  Snacks of course, fun music (we like Ralphs World).  Oh, and yesterday we were at a store and one of the employees gave DS a plain old balloon (non-helium) tied to a ribbon and he LOVED that thing.  It was ridiculous how much he liked it.  He held onto the string in the car and kicked the balloon around giggling his head off.

I just ordered the Leap Frog Tag junior that reads board books..hopethat works for a while on the plane/car
