Analeigh for a girl? ?We like traditional names, but I don't want my child to be one of 12 Elizabeths in her graduating class. ?I like Analeigh because it's the melding of two very traditional names but is also fairly uncommon at the same time. Then again, I don't want my daughter to have to spell her name for everyone or constantly correct pronunciation. ?I just don't know!
Re: What do you think of...
I really like it. As for the spelling, yo ucould do Annaleigh. That might help a bit.
These days, though, w/ all the whacky spellings, it seems like everyone has to spell their names out. Even me w/ Sarah.

So true! ?I'm Meredith, which I don't think is all that uncommon, but I've had to spell my name for people since I was a kid. ?I once told someone my name and watch them write down Meridyth. ?Seriously?!? ?That's the first spelling that comes to mind??
?
And thanks for the reassurance. ?:)?
My name is Meredith, too, and I've *always* had to spell my name (it usually comes out Merideth, which just looks ridiculous). But the best was on my 1st ultrasound--the tech spelled it "Marideth". UGH.
To the OP: Analeigh is very pretty, but she will have to spell it for every.single.person.
Ditto this. I know someone with this name, and she spells it Annalee. I think it's lovely!
I love the sound of it - but agree with pp she will likely be spelling it often. But then again, I have a totally "common" name and even I have been asked how to spell it so what difference does it really make?
?Oooh, I'm glad you said that because we're leaving toward pronouncing it Ahna-lee versus Anna-lee.
The "anal" thing bothers me (trust me, I've thought about it a lot), which is pretty much the only reason I'm still wary. But I just don't like the way Annaleigh looks. ?But I also don't want to scar my kid for life, you know, and stick her with the nn "Anally." ??This naming thing is hard!
Waaaayyy too close to "Anally" for comfort in my opinion, regardless of how it's spelt. I went to school with an "Annalee" and that's what everyone called her- in math once even the teacher slipped up and said it He tried to play it off like a slip of the tongue but the class was in hysterics. Fwiw, I ran in to her a few years ago and you guessed it...she goes by simply "Anna".
I can't get over it's proximity to anal or anally, it makes me want to shudder a little
Sorry! Just being honest!
I do love: Leighann or Leighanna
