Tell them God doesn't wake happily sleeping babies! OHHHHH I so would've given them a piece of my mind. It's a fun day in our house when the JW's knock on our door. I'm sorry :-(
Ugh! Without fail that always happens which is why I permanently leave a sign on our front door that says "DO NOT ring bell, baby is sleeping!!" It usually does the trick, in fact sometimes people come to the door, read the sign and then just go away!
That's just...well, your post title is accurate. Ugh...stupid people. We have a phone number that is the same as a local dealerships toll free number, and we've been getting calls for the past 8 months.
My favorite was the idiot who called at 6:30 in the morning and woke up my two week old.

Oh I love that. It's true God wouldn't wake a sleeping baby! GRRR those guys bug me so much. One time my friend answered her door and there were JW there. They started asking her weird questions like what was her favorite fruit and stuff lol. Sorry dear.
They JUST knocked on my door too!!! And I have a no soliciting sign on my gate that they walked RIGHT PAST!! I specifically put that sign up because of them!! GRRRR!!
My IL's are LDS and BIL actually went on his mission but I don't agree with door-to-door soliciting of your religion. If I'm interested in a religion, I'll search that church out and ask questions there. I don't need to be "sold" on it. Can you imagine if EVERYONE went door-to-door selling their religion. No babies would ever get any sleep! LoL
We're never mean to them. Always super nice. But let's just say, once they stop at our house, they usually don't come back. We haven't had an LDS or JW visitor in well over 3 years. I kinda miss them :-(
It's funny you say this b/c I have yet to experience a JW since moving to WA. <looking around for wood to knock> In IL, it's a running joke that it's the Jehovah's Witnesses that go door-to-door. (Knock Knock. Who's There? Jehovah's Witness.) In WA, though, it seems to be Mormons. I thought it was a regional thing. I'd never even met a Mormon before I moved here, at least not that I'm aware. Now, I point out the black pants/white shirt folks to my parents, when they visit.
I worked from home for 3 months after my surgery. They came 3x, and always on a Wednesday. I never answered the door, though.
I'm atheist and I'm sure it would have been an interesting conversation. I have nothing against people being involved in their religion or church. I just don't want to be sold anything at my own doorstep; magazines, newspaper subscriptions, candy, or religions.
On a slightly irreverent note... has anyone seen Orgasmo? I'm suddenly reminded of the first scene at the lady's doorstep.
