TMI....Constipation

So i have been trying really hard to eat healthy and do good by my sweet little unborn. Veggies, fruits, lots of protein....etc. etc.

I have been bloated, gassy and yet no BMs ..UGH!! Super icky constipation.

So yesterday, I broke down and ate some, what i like to call "fat girl food". You know, food you would try to steer clear of while on a diet.

Then viola...3 BM's in ONE DAY...WTF!!!! Trust me, I am happy, bc i feel soo much better, but seriously, wtheck....

  • I think that fat and grease helps everything slide right through.

  • Make sure you are staying very hydrated. My doc told me staying well hydrated along with eating right will help with constipation. GL

  • Didn't help me at all.  Mostly because I haven't been able to keep down many foods with fiber content.

But Fibercon (a bulk-forming fiber based laxative) did the trick.

yeah, i stay pretty hydrated...probably overly (if u can do that).

and the grease did run right through me..icky!! But i will have to try something like fibercon in the future.

    Thanks for the tips ladies!

  • Okay, do tell what you ate because I am in the exact same boat.  UGH!
  • I was having the same problem although I did try greasy food and it didn't help me. Just started getting better this week so there is hope! Just hang in there and try taking a stool softener like dulcolax (I think that's what its called...the ingredient is ducosate sodium.)
  • I'm having the gas problems and some of the constipation problems too. With me its not that I can't go its that, as Oprah and the Dr's call it, I'm having rabbit pellet problems. I guess it means I'm not getting enough fiber. I have some benefiber but it gave me gas before I was ever pregnant so I can only imagine what it would do to me now. So if Fibercon better then benefiber or does anyone know? TIA

Well, breakfast was normal: yogurt, oatmeal and cantaloupe for a snack. At lunch i had ARBY'S!! (YUMMY) with curly fries. Well it was a girls bday at work so i had three MINI cupcakes (bite size) with strawberries for a snack. Then for dinner I had chicken alfredo.....with carrots and some broccoli.

WOW...........I was a new woman by 10pm. GL

  • The Big Mac works.  So do chicken wings : )

  • Ugh, same problem here. And my stomach is just killing me from not going!! I tried McDonalds yesterday, but it didn't help.

Has anyone ran Fibercon or Dulcolax by their doctor???WOndering what they said...

  • Dulcolax is definitely approved by doctors, that is the only one I am sure of though... I don't want to speak about anything else since I'm not absolutely sure.  I have taken the Dulcolax for my own issues, but if you want to steer clear of fast food, then maybe a salad with oil and vinegar would be better... I think it's just the oil that helps everything along!  Or even some bread in dipping oil?  I've been trying to incorporate some oil into my diet in a more healthy way than eating french fries too!  Good Luck!
