Success after IF

I seem to remember a post where you mentioned using your gym's childcare center.  I'm thinking of doing this but I checked out the childcare room at the gym close to me and I have some concerns.  For one thing it's one big open room so all the kids (different ages) play around each other. My girls are one so I'm a little nervous with them being around 4 and 5 year olds.  And there is a door to the outside area that is left open.  The outside area is very secure with a high fence but I think it's odd that my girls could just be allowed to wander outside.  I'm going to look at another gym but I'm curious what the childcare center is like at your gym.

Of course please ignore this if I'm wrong and you don't bring your daughter to work out with you:)

  • Yep, I'm the one who brings her DD to the gym daycare. It sounds like mine is set up a lot differently, though. It is a big room, but it's sectioned off so the babies are in one area, crawlers in another and "big kids" in the main part. There is at least one staffer assigned to each area and they are all wonderful. Several of them have watched N for me and one of them is going to keep her for me for the next two months when I start working and before she can start at her daycare in August. Also, I go to a YMCA so they are VERY strict about who they hire. They all must be CPR and first aid trained, extensive background checks, etc. I'm sure other gyms require these things too, but I feel even more comfortable because it's such a family-oriented place and not just a gym, per se. I would be a little nervous about one big room for all the kids. I'd take a look at some other places and see how they're run before you make your final decision. GL! Having a place to put her for a few hours each day has been a HUGE help to me - nice to know I'll have a break for a bit!

  • Hmm, I think I'm going to try another gym.  The next closest one is a YMCA so I'm glad to hear that you like yours so much.  I'll have to check it out this weekend.  The thought of being able to work out and get a little break sounds great to me.  I never thought I'd use work out and get a little bit in the same sentence!
