My LO is almost 3 weeks old and we're having a heck of a time with night feedings. He's usually too sleepy to get a full feeding in, and if I wake him up to eat he likes to play and look around and won't go back to sleep for an hour or more. He will however take a bottle of BM and go right back to sleep. So my hubby will give him one bottle while I sleep and then at his second night bottle, I pump. I usually get about 5 - 6 oz at this pumping whic is roughly double what I get when I pump in between his morning feedings. Will this screw up my supply by starting this so early, or is it ok since I'm continuing to pump and seem to be getting the same amount that he would be eating over the course of the night.
Thanks in advance!
Re: Can I keep my supply and give bottles at night?
it will definitely screw your supply up. hate to tell you but ANYTIME your baby gets a bottle you need to pump. EVERY TIME. you are too early to be skipping pumps even if you are getting double the amount. too much to chance screwing your supply up.
This.
ditto
I can handle 2 night pumpings... just not the 1.5 hour eat/play/fuss episodes at 3am. So I'll add a pumping while he has his first bottle and keep pumping on the second bottle and continue with the additional morning pumping just in case. Thanks!
