Again, this is me overthinking cartoons...   

do you guys remember the episode where they save the baby dolphin? 

Ming Ming and Tuck couldn't understand the baby dolphin because they don't speak dolphin, but then Lenny did. How is this possible? He's a gerbil? guinea pig? He's not even an aquatic animal. One would think at least Tuck would know.
