I've read to make sure you have vaseline on hand for when taking your baby's temperature rectally. Can I use a non-petroleum lube like KY instead? I would like to minimize the petroleum in our lives.
but just so you know, no health professional has ever told us to take DS's temp rectally- they all said under the arm is just fine. But I'm sure every pedi is different.
Re: non-petroleum jelly?
no idea but Alba makes a lovely non-petroleum jelly for babies.
I would imagine KY would be fine considering its intended use... just make sure the ingredients are all safe for baby first I guess.
Ditto on the Alba un-petroleum jelly,
