Sand out of hair?

They were in the sandbox today and her brother treated her to a shovel full of sand on her head.

She has a mass of curls.  I washed it - but she's got issues with the tub- the best I could manage was a cup of water, nowhere close to being able to use the shower to get the water pressure to get it out.

I could still feel it when I put her leave-in conditioner in (thank you to whomever suggested Maya Papaya for curly girls - love it).  I combed through it - more came out, but it's still there.

 Any ideas?

If it's warm outside, you could put her in a bathing suit and let her run through the hose if she doesn't mind that. DD loves running through the water.

I know babypowder works on skin I would think the same with hair but then you will have to wash it too.
