I'm going to leave it kind of vague, but... Ok, I know parenting is a big job, and we can't possibly all know everything, and we all feel a bit clueless at times. But it annoys the sh!t out of me when I'm talking to another mom about child-rearing - about something kind of commonplace - and she is just completely CLUELESS. This kind of woman starts out with, "Well I heard that..." and then lists a whole bunch of old wives' tales, practices that have been outdated since the 70's, or things any pedi worth his/her salt would immediately say are false. I'm not talking about things that are up for debate. I'm talking basic knowledge for which there are tons of resources and literature out there... and it's obvious this woman is starting from ground zero. So she asks the mom next to her - in this case, me. I don't mind sharing 1 or 2 pieces of advice, or having a conversation about something our pedis said that differed - those convos are fun - but it's not my job to tutor anyone on an entire branch of parenting. Lady, you should be educating yourself - that's your job and responsibility as a parent. Go out there and LEARN, for cripe's sake.?
Ok, sorry, I am totally hormonal and that was my rant for the day. And sorry if this makes me sound like Mrs. Judgy McJudgesalot. But thanks for letting me vent. ?
Re: Ugh, why am I so annoyed today??
Yes, thank you - I should definitely say that! But I guess it also annoys me that a mom wouldn't have already done that on her own - like, why is it even necessary for me to suggest, you know? Most of us have the ability to obtain info ourselves when needed - I certainly don't have anyone standing over my head directing me. I'm an adult and I have to figure it out for myself. Maybe it's just ppl in general that don't seem to know how to do that that annoy me...
