My doctor confirmed today that BC pills are a thing of the past for me because of my new weird hormones, and is considering putting me on the NuvaRing. What are the side effects if any? Any pros? Cons? Is it hard to get that thing out of you?
I used it for a few years. It's pretty easy. The only thing you have to remember is to take it out after 3 weeks. My SIL leaves it in for 4 weeks and then just puts a new one in. She never has her period. I asked my dr about this and she said, I had to take it out. It is kind of weird taking it out. Make sure you don't have long nails, because sometimes that hurts. All in all, I was very satisfied with it. I am going on YAZ now though because of pmdd.
I react badly to BCP, so I went on the NuvaRing. I didn't have great succcess with it. I still had frequent, unbearable migraines, mood swings, fatique, irritability, etc. It's worth a try, however - I know many women who can't handle BCP but love the Ring. I just discovered that any hormonal birth control is a bad thing for me.

I used it because I couldn't remember to take a pill every day. There wasn't anything I didn't like about it. DH couldn't feel it. It was really easy to put in and take out (takes about 3 seconds). I did find that I forgot how long it had been in there, so I had to put putting it in and taking it out in my planner.

This was also something that concerned me: How would I remember when to remove and insert? This is a smart way of doing it. Thanks for the advice!
Thanks ladies for all your input. I think I?ll give it a shot and see what happens. Never hurts to try I guess, and according to what you all are telling me, the side effects aren?t too bad which makes me happy.
I love the nuva ring because it is so simple HOWEVER let me just say I got pregnant TWICE on it. Once was an ectopic and the second is DD. Apparently there are a lot of cases like mine according to several OB's and Drs

Oh?That scares me. My doc this morning told me it?s more effective than the BC pills. Apparently not!
I have tried all types of BC over the years and hated everything except for the NuvaRing. I did not get moody or gain weight with it like with everything else. It is easy to insert and remove once you get used to doing it. The only thing that weirded me out a bit was just knowing it's in there all the time and I didn't like it during sex...it was a little uncomfortable to me. Not bad...I mean, I could have sex with it in, but I could kinda feel it a bit. You can take it out though for up to (I think) 3 hours so if you don't mind removing it before sex, it shouldn't be a problem. If I ever get back on BC this is what I'll use again.
I was on it and loved it! I never felt it and it did just as promised. Removed it and was pregnant the next month! I'm now on Mirena, as I thought it would be great to save money, but will go back on the Nuva Ring after we have our next child.
I HATED Nuvaring. I think it was the specific type of progesterone used in it.. the hormone really messed w/ my emotions and made me basically crazy. I wasn't myself at all. Some types of bcp (I guess certain progesterones) messed w/ me like this, too, but none as badly as nuvaring. I hope to never go back on hormonal birth control in general.?

Ditto the above. They usually provide little stickers to put in your planner to remind you when to take out/put back in.
I LOVE the ring. The only side effect I've experienced is minor nausea & that's only when my stomach is empty. I took the ring out Sunday & just started AF today, which was actually typical for me when I was on the BCP before DD. The great thing is - NO CRAMPS YET!!!! Yeah, I'm so sticking to the ring, even if my insurance doesn't cover it!
I also used it for about 3-4 years. It was awesome. however I noticed I got really angry with my cycle at the end there, and I don't know if it was the nuva ring or just normal husband pissing me off things. So I decided to go off it and do the NFP method for a while to just clear my system, and I got pregnant on one accident 2 months later.
So it worked well, and I got pregnant very quickly and easily once I was off it. The only side effect I had was irritability after a while, and if you get that you can just switch it up.
Re: Talk to me about the NuvaRing.
I used it for awhile and liked it. However, my body just does not take well to any type of BC with hormones. Trust me, I have tried them all.
It was easy to insert and take out. Most of the time, DH couldn't feel it while having sex, but on rare instances he would.
Some of my symptoms was naseua and dizziness, but again, this is how I am on any BC, so take that with a grain of salt.
I have also heard that you can skip your period by inserting one ring right after the other, instead of leaving it out for that 1 week.
