We went last year (DS was 2 1/2) and we loved it. We went at the end of May and it wasn't crowded at all and was very clean. DS loved the shows and meeting the characters. The parade was also very fun.
I think the crayola factory is a 1 - 2 hours away, but i'm not sure on that. We wanted to go, but just ran out of time.
Crayola Factory is in Easton and Sesame Place is in Langhorne. They are not close. I'd recommend Sesame Place with the Philadelphia Zoo or Please Touch Museum.
We were there a couple weeks ago. Just like pp, we tried to go at the beginning/end of the season when it's not too busy, and during the week if possible.
R LOVED the shows, parade and characters. She didn't get to go on too many rides (I couldn't b/c of pregnancy, and DH has really bad motion sickness), but I think there were a couple of rides she would have liked.
We thought about the Crayola Factory, but after talking to some people, it seemed like she was just a little too young to really get much out of it.
I do HIGHLY recommend the Please Touch Museum (and its very close to the zoo). R had a great time there. We also went to the Adventure Aquarium in NJ which was only a few minutes away and they have an awesome shark exhibit.
