Baby Names

Kaylee too close to Kyleigh?

My husband's cousin just had a baby and named her Kyleigh, which was one of my favorite girl names. I also like the name Kaylee, but I am wondering if it is too close to Kyleigh. They live on the other side of the US from us, but it still might get confusing for some people at family functions!

What do you think...too close?

  • Too close for siblings, but not for second cousins. Especially if you live far and won't see them too often

  • I think it's fine seeing that a) they are just cousins and b) they geographically live nowhere near each other.

I'm Taryn and I have a cousin named Karen. It's never been an issue. And the one time we see each other during the year creates no confusion for anyone.

This....however be prepared for older relatives to constantly call them each others name by accident!

  • It's close, but if you rarely see them, meh. Name her what you want.

  • I don't think it's too close.  Go for it!   I would probably spell it Kailey, though, just a personal preference - plus it would make it that much different from Kyleigh.

  • I am just a lurker but I had to respond to this one.  I know a pair of sisters who have 7 girls between them (One has 3, one has 4).  The older one has girls named Kaitlyn, Kilen, and Kenlen (sp?).  The younger one has girls named Kaylee, Kara, Kirsten, and Keyleigh.  And these girls are all around the same age and go to school together.  Honestly.  Could you imagine being THEIR grandmother?  Anyways, just sayin if two sisters could name their daughters (who are at the most a year apart) Kaitlyn and Kaylee, I think you are free to do as you please!

I agree. I don't think they're too close to use, especially since you're nowhere near each other. However, the older generation of family members might call them by the other's name occasionally.
