I posted this in the morning, but for some reason it posted to the Babies on the Brain board...weird.
Sorry to take so long to post this! But my babies are here! I went in for a non stress test May 30th. My blood pressure had spiked, there was protein in my urine & my feet/ankles/calves were even more swollen than normal, so after labs they decided I was pre-e and the babies needed to be taken out right away. I was so happy that my actual OB was at the hospital making rounds, so she and another dr. from their practice were able to deliver my babies. So I went in for a c-seftion not long later. It went by super fast! Parker Marshall weighed in at 6lbs 14oz and 19 1/2", Payton Lily weighed 5 lbs 7oz and was 18". Both babies were doing great and were brought to me as soon as I was stabilized, even though I was out of it because I had to spend the next 24 hrs on magnesium. But I just felt so much better having them in the room with me. I ended up staying 4 nights in the hospital, because my blood pressure was still so high.
The babies don't latch on well, so I've been pumping with a hospital rented pump. I'm hoping I'm doing ok, I get anywhere from 1 to 3 oz, but normally I average 1.5 on the right and closer to 2 on the left. Is that good? When should I expect that to go up? The lactation consultant said my goal was 35 oz a day, but now I'm confused if that's per side or total. My guess is per side.
The babies are both doing so good and already have little personalities! They are so cute! I'll post pics when I have a chance. They look so different Parker has a full head of dark brown hair and Payton is my little blondie (although it looks much darker in pics) and her skin is much fairer.
I still can't believe my babies are here! It's amazing how much love you can have for these little babies!
Thanks for letting me share
Re: My babies are here!!!
Congrats!!! can't wait to see pics!!!
I am going to answer your BFing questions....1-3oz per side is GREAT for only doing this about a week. Just keep doing what you are doing and continue to offer the breast to the babies....they will get it if you keep trying and it will help to increase your supply. As for the 35oz a day that is total...not per side (that would be ALOT). My babies only drink 3oz bottles during the day when I am gone at work and I can pump almost exactly what they need now (24oz total).
Congratulations!

I have strep throat. Yuck! My weekly mfm appt is Wed.
We have a baby nurse coming for 8 weeks after they are born. There are various reasons for this (my family lives 2 hours away, I don't want my mil staying here, mh isn't good in these types of situations and he is leaving for a 2.5 week business trip the beginning of August. So this was the best decision for our family.
