Please tell me about dropping to one nap

How do you know when to do it? How do you make the chnage? DD is all over the map right now with her naps and not going to bed on time anymore. Another Nestie thought this could be why. Advise? Thanks!

Re: Please tell me about dropping to one nap

  • DD started refusing to take her morning nap. She would just stand in her crib and scream...it was pretty obvious! :) So, I just stopped forcing the morning nap and let her stay up as long as she could make it. Eventually it became a noon nap and she now sleeps up to 3 hours (way longer than her two naps were combined). I love it! GL!!

  • We have just transitioned this past week. ?His afternoon nap was just getting shorter and shorter (around 30 minutes) and he just didn't want to go down for his morning nap as soon as he used to, so I just kept him awake until after lunch. ?It seems to be working. ?Like the pp said, his one nap has been way longer than his previous 2 combined.

  • Wow, I would LOVE for her to take a longer nap! I think I'll try keeping her up until lunchtime and see what happens. Thanks!

  • It sort of happend naturally around 1 year - he just wouldn't sleep, but rather stand there and scream!  He still sometimes takes a 20-30 minute cat nap in the morning, but I try to avoid that b/c he makes his afternoon nap shorter :-)
