Trying to Get Pregnant

How much alcohol does it take to affect your BBT?

I have googled this everyway I can think to phrase the question, and also looked through the FF faq's on BBT and can't find the answer.  In your experience is 1 glass of wine enough to affect BBT?  If not, how much does it take for you to check the "drinking" box on FF?

I had an almost + OPK (I know almost doesn't count) yesterday and this morning was much lighter.  Then I had a glass of wine last night and saw a .3 degree shift this morning.  So either I missed my LH surge by a few hours or I'm not really O'ing and the temp the wine's fault.

I know you guys can't tell me if I'm about to ovulate =), but I'm curious as to how alcohol affects everyone's charts...

  • I don't notice a tremendous shift in my temps unless I've had a significant amount of alcohol.  .3 degree shift for me is a normal fluctuation and one glass of wine surely doesn't affect my temps from experience.  Hope this helps!

  • It's different for everyone.  Usually if I feel buzzed the night before, then it impacts my temp and sometimes a lot.   Some people say their temp is impacted by just a drink or 2.

  • Honestly? Everyone is different. For me, it was a few glasses of wine, though if I was careful to also drink plenty of water it wouldn't really make much of a difference.

For me personal, I have to be sh!t faced when I go to bed in order to see a big temp change. If you look at my current chart, the temp that is WAY higher then the others, that was after a night of heavy drinking.

Otherwise, If I only get a buzz or only have 2 glasses of wine, I see no change.

That changes person to person though.

  • I don't really see a change unless I got drunk the night before, like 3 or more drinks, then my temp rises.
  • I really don't see a huge fluctuation in my temps.
  • Everyone is different, but I have slowly figured out that, for myself, it really just depends on the time of my last drink in relation to when I go to sleep.  One glass of wine right before bed will affect my temp much more than a few drinks at an evening cookout.

  • When I have one or two glasses nothing is affected. The other night I went out and had prob 3+ and it went WAY up.
  • Good point.... Maybe I'll have a drinking experiment!  Increase the # of drinks by 1 each day and see how it affects my temp!  jk, kinda =)

This. And normally if I'm having more than 3 drinks I'm staying up later but temping at the same time so I check "sleep deprived."

  • I have yet to see it effect my chart, but I am a one or two drink kind of girl.
