Who does this?!?!

BIL and his wife just called this morning.  They (with their 11 month old DD)are coming for a visit.  That's fine, they haven't been down to see us since out wedding 4 years ago.

They live 12 hours away by car...they are coming TONIGHT.  BIL just got some time off work, so they *just* decided to hop in the car and head down.

Now, luckily, they said they would stay in a hotel, but I'm still cleaning and re-planning meals and all that.  I am very happy to have them come down, but who decides on a whim to drive 12 hours to visit OOT relatives with no advance discussion?

or maybe they are just way more spur of the moment than me.  12 hrs?  I'd be planning for weeks.  i hope the wife is on board with all of this b/c you know who is doing all the packing.

We live a pretty good distance from our family, and if we got some unexpected time off work we probably would do the same (so long as it was okay with our family).  You take advantage when you can.

At least you know you have at least 12 hours to plan!

Interesting. Maybe with an 11mth old it's easier to be that spontaneous?!

This is totally it.  They really are just SO incredibly different than DH and I.  Heck, I have a hard enough time making it to the grocery store or story time on a whim, much less a 12 hour trip.  LOL
