If you were dealing with an ectopic due to badly damaged tubes, and needed surgery to remove it because methotrexate wasnt working, would you consider removing both tubes during surgery to not have more ectopics?
Yes, and I would just proceed with IVF as soon as I could...I am so sorry you are dealing with an ectopic. I have not had that experience but I wanted to wish you luck with your choice.
This exact scenario happened to me last year. We did IVF because of tubal issue and I got pregnant, but found out it was ectopic. I decided against the shot and had surgery, where they removed both tubes. I emotionally couldn't deal with another ectopic.
I'd ask your RE if he thought there was a good chance of another ectopic. Both my RE and OB did, so that's why I decided to have them removed. Good luck with your decision and I'm so sorry you have to deal with this.
Just remember, it is still possible to have an ectopic with no tubes at all - I know, it blows. The "nubs" of scar tissue can still magnet a baby and be considered ectopic at that point. Of course, the chances are not very high - 2%. However, all ectopics are only 2% likely in IVF. 1% likely in normal pregnancies.
Good luck!

Wow, if that happens to me, I don/t know what I will do. This is all so horrible. Im so tired. 2 years to get preg, get ready to do IVF in July, only to find out Im preg already in the tubes. IVF wrecked until next summer. And then if I get my tubes out, I still might have a tubal??
