There is alcohol in some communion wine. My faith tradition uses grape juice, but my dear friends who are clergy in the episcopal church go to the grocery store and buy port wine off the shelf sometimes. We've had countless discussions over this. I promise. But I don't think that should really matter, since its not enough. Children are allowed to partake in it, afterall!
I have experience working in methodist churches and know a little bit about Methodist theology and polity. If you only take the bread, it makes no difference (at least according to the meaning/significance of the sacrament).
I would ask your pastor about it, though. He/She can help you with this a lot.
I am baptist and we use grape juice at my church. The ONLY way for you to know for sure if your church uses wine w/ alcohol in it is to ask you preacher or the person in charge of buying the wine/juice. The ladies on here are not experts on your church procedures, they know about their church procedures and obviously they want to argue about who is right. They each may be right about their own church. As far as appearances, just talk to some people at your church, there have probably been a few women in the past that have sat out of the event, if you explain why to your preacher or priest he will more then likely understand. I was not trying to make anyone mad with this just posting my opinion.

Our church uses real wine. I am asking for grape juice when I recieve. When I go with my DH to catholic mass I just skip the blood and take the body.
Ditto to this!?
