Babies: 9 - 12 Months

FYI about swim diapers

I see people mentioning that their swim diapers leak all the time here.

Swim diapers are only meant to hold poop, not pee. So yes, they will leak. That's also why they don't swell up like a normal diaper. Don't put one on your baby and then stick her in her seat for the ride across town to the pool. You'll have a soggy car seat :)

Hasn't happened to me.  I put my DS in his swim diaper before we head to swim every week and haven't had a leak yet.  BUT I do know they aren't AS absorbant as a regular diaper.  My advice don't put it on RIGHT after a bottle or BFing.  I've yet to have  a leak and we've been doing swim for 2 months.

Also Onestepahead.com has a adjustable swim diaper for $12.95 that is reusable.

  • Everyone says this, and the first swim diaper we put on DD leaked like she wasn't wearing a diaper at all, but the one we use now has never leaked. You can tell by looking at it that it's pretty absorbant.

  • I was just going to mention that we bought one of the reusable ones from One Step Ahead. Haven't tried it yet,  but seems like a better deal than buying disposable ones.

Let me know what you think!  Give us a review once you use it!!

  • LOL I didn't know they were only meant to hold poop not pee.  Last weekend when DD and I were in the pool at the hotel we were staying at for my cousins wedding.  I felt a warm spot like pee, but I knew I didn't pee and figured DD was wearing a diaper so I didn't think anything of it.  Now I feel bad because DD peed in the pool of a 4 star hotel lol.
  • Yep, when I hear people complaining it cracks me up lol. The disposables will barely hold a drop of pee but the reusables hold at least a little bit. I don't use the disposables anymore unless we are at the beach, that way I don't have to pack a stinky poop dipe home (blech)!
  • We also use a resusable diaper over the swim diaper!

  • We use the Imse Vimse reusable swim diaper and it works great, they do run on the bigger side so DD is still wearing the medium even though she is 19lb. and 27" long.  This site has free shipping.

  • Good to know b/c I didn't.  My friend just commented that her son peed on her husband while getting in the pool.  We were wondering how it leaked, but I also wondered how it didn't fill w/ water once in the pool.  Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmm.....

I just ordered this and didn't realize until after the transaction went through that they aren't shipping this week for some reason.  Grrrr we are going on vacation next week and needed the diaper for this reason.  Hopefully they are good at customer service and will change where they will ship the diaper.
