Is it after so many days of no accidents or is there some other criteria? Can a child be 'pee' trained but not 'poop' trained? I know that it can take longer to be potty trained overnight, so I'm not even taking that into account here. DD has been in panties for about 48 hours now except overnight. She had 1 teeny 'pee' accident yesterday and had a 'poop' accident today (fwiw, she has still never pooped on the potty). She also wears panties during her naps and has been waking up dry. I don't think that I consider her PT'd just yet, but I think that she is really close. What do you consider the criteria for being officially 'Potty Trained'. Thanks!

Re: When is a child considered potty trained?
I'd say when they don't need diapers during the day, including nap time, and less than one accident a week. Because that would be enough to let them into any program/pre-school that requires them to be PT'd.
And really there's no "training" to the night-time part is there? You just have to wait until they are developmentally ready (I think). I know some of my friends kids are wearing underwear during the day for up to 2 years before they stayed dry consistently at night.
I felt like DD was "potty trained" when we could resume our regular schedule (being out and about) without fearing accidents or having to pee RIGHT. NOW. with no warning.
Except for random accidents she was pee trained in 1.5 days, poop trained in a week, and night trained in about 2 weeks.
Now she's getting to the point where she will go pull down her pants by herself and go when she needs to, though she needs help wiping and re-dressing. And she wears underwear 24/7. I consider that trained.
