I guess I'm going to be fully knocked out

For this wisdom teeth surgery. Sounds like the recovery is worse than the 45min surgery. Doc says he'll write a doctors note that DH must take care of the 2yr old the entire weekend while I recover :)

Re: I guess I'm going to be fully knocked out

  • I had my bottom two taken out when I was 25.  OMG.  The recovery was awful for me-the first three days at least.  After that, it does slowly get better.  I'd be thanking him for knocking you out!  You don't want to be awake for that!  I wasn't, and am soooo glad!!!
  • He already warned me how much more it's going to hurt a 32yr old than a teenager because they've really 'taken root'. Ugh.

  • I was knocked out when I had 3 wisdom teeth removed at age 35.  Honestly, recovery was a breeze for me.  I even went out to dinner that night.  Given, they weren't impacted but I was so worried for nothing.  I hope the same for you.
  • ugh... I have to get mine taken out. I am not looking forward to it. Good luck!
  • I had one taken out when it was impacted as an emergency and the other 3 a couple months later. The impacted one was hell, but the other 3 went great. Granted, I was 18, so it may have been different.
  • The first 24 hours were bad.  and then at about 4 days it got HORRIBLE because I developed a dry socket.  I finally got into the dr and when they plugged the dry socket, is when i was ok.
  • I recently had 3 taken out, all impacted.  One of them was very close to the nerve and he warned me I would be in pain for a week or so.  Honestly I was sleepy the day of and just stayed on the pain meds. (lowest dosage and I was fine).  Around a week two of them had a bit of infection but I went back in and he took care of that and I was fine.  I have a 3 yo and a 15m old and only had help the day of the surgery and on the weekends and I was fine.  Kind of tired, but it really wasn't that bad.
  • I was when I had mine and it was awful. I made my mom come take care of me. She took tea bags and soaked them and put them over the areas where the teeth were.

I was surprised how much blood there was the first day and I was surprised that I was swollen like a chipmunk and then bruised for a long while afterward.

I POAS tomorrow (although it'll probably be too early to tell). I am going to call to schedule all this next week, once I confirm I'm not pg.
