Trying to Get Pregnant

WWYD for MIL?

My mother-in-law's birthday is Monday and DH of course doesn't care what we do (u know men) and FIL is not the most thoughtful person and MIL just had hip surgery. Would you invite them over for cake and dinner? Just cake? Or would you call and ask what they are doing?

My natural instincts make me want to do it all, dinner and cake but don't know if I am overdoing or stepping on FIL's toes. Suggestions?

Re: WWYD for MIL?

  • If she just had hip surgery is she already out and about?  I think maybe make a cake and take it over to them?!!?!?

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe making some yummy dinner and treats for dessert. If she's up for company then enjoy it whichever location is better for her, if she's not up for company drop it off for MIL and FIL to celebrate at home. Either way, food would probably be greatly appreciated!

  • Very good suggestions. She is up and about but I still like the idea of giving her options. Very good. I will call her tonight and discuss.
  • I think since she just had surgery, you might be better off going over there. Maybe take some dinner and cake with you to enjoy, and then she can have some leftovers and not have to worry about cooking the next day too.
  • Call and ask them what they are doing. Maybe offer to bring dinner or cake over to them!

Ditto! I think asking FIL will prevent him from feeling excluded too.
