Rock hard uterus in the A.M.?

A few days ago I woke up with the early sun and put my hand on my tummy to say good morning to the Sea Monkey.?

It was like placing my hand on a?cantaloupe. Like someone has shrink-wrapped my uterus -- a perfect ball, with all my skin sunken in around it.?

I got up to pee, laid back down and it was now all shifted to the right side, like a ski slope. I got up and walked around, and everything went back to normal -- soft and pillowy.

This has happened every morning since. I don't think anything is wrong, of course. I have no pain and I'm sure this is normal. I looked it up and some sights say BH contractions can cause something like this.

Anyone else have this going on or have any more insight into what it is? I almost look forward to it in the morning now because it makes me feel like I can feel baby ... even though i can't yet Wink?

Re: Rock hard uterus in the A.M.?

  • I feel that way before I pee in the morning too.  My guess is that it's just a full bladder combined with baby filling up the space in your abdomen.  Just a guess though.

  • Yes! I get this in the a.m also.
  • I get the rock hard belly in the evenings.  I think it depends on where the baby is positioned in your ute.  I'm guessing when I feel the hard spots, he is near the front.
  • Mine does the same thing. My doctor said it's totally normal for the uterus to tighten when you have a full bladder, or when you are lying down. I also like it!!! Sometimes I notice one side it higher and more hard than the other side. I like to think that it's our little one hanging out there.

  • I feel the same exact way... I was wondering f I am not normal with the hardened one sided stomach thing and the rock hard stomach in the morning. I like to tell DH that the baby dissappears when he/she sees him.

  • Bwahahaha. Morning wood for the pregnant lady. ;)

I agree with PP, it's probably the combination of a baby that's squished enough and the full bladder pushing it upwards more.

Dude, I'm totally calling it Morning Baby Wood from now on. I don't care how wrong it sounds, it's an unstoppable force!!?

  • YES!  This has been happening to me and I'm so glad you posted this.  It is VERY hard in the am, then I pee and it gets better.  The morning before last the bump was totally to the right.  It was so strange!  It moved back right away after I pee'd, but I wondered if anything was wrong!  Ha!  I can't feel baby yet either.

  • I too have this every morning before I get up. But, in my opinion since most of the ladies are feeling it before they empty the bladder, it may just be that. I think once you get further along, you will notice it's your LO. At least, that's what it is for me these days. As soon as I start to rub it or gently press on it, she'll move and the hard lump spreads out.

Also, is this happening while laying on your back? That is the only time this happens to me when I wake up in the morning.
